manny.. I pmed you... you did not answer me yet
i'm back... hehehehe... twas a long vacation.
i have a question for manny. if ever you posted this laready then i apologized but the post here are quite long and it will take me days to find the answer to my question so might as well ask.
if i don't have faith yet i follow the 10 commandments except for the part "keep the sabbath day holy" thingy. not because it is what "god" wanted me to do but it is because the 9 commandments are logical... will that guarantee my salvation?
er MAn offcially whats your religion i mean what church do you attend too cause i remember i already ask that tricky question to a priest of catholic church during grad retreat in highscl days he said no.Originally Posted by shoeless_rebel
No, it will not guarantee your salvation.Originally Posted by shoeless_rebel
I'm not saying, however, that we shouldn't follow rational moral precepts. We should. But if one doesn't believe in God -- but knows of the message of salvation and has been given a real and fair opportunity to accept it -- then it amounts to a deliberate and free rejection of God. So why would such a person want to be saved?
bro...welcome back...storya nya sa imo escapades....anyway when you say "keep the sabbath day holy" do you only mean going to mass on Sundays? ....kay morag daghan paagi bro pag keep His day holy....Originally Posted by shoeless_rebel

I think shoe_less question is highly technical and theoretical........I think in practice.....it wouldn't be impossible to follow the all 10 commandments if you have the discipline of strictly following the 9 other commandments............
@freeza: i dont attend any church bro... i was an agnostic but i made a silly promise last week and i think i should keep it so from now on im not gonna refer to myself as an agnostic. i know it's silly... lemme share the story. i used to race mini bigbikes (YSR's, NSR's) illegally. but eversince i learned how to ride a bike i started fearing it. i have this irrational fear of habal2x. and i had no choice last week but to ride one from general luna to dapa (siargao) twas a long stretch of empty road and the driver was like a hell spawn bent on suicide.
so didto sa habal2x i made a pact (the closest i did na matawag ug prayer after so many years) with let's say a God that if ever i can survive the night i will stop calling myself agnostic and will try to have an open mind about the existence of a God (besides by the act of praying dili na ko ka tawag sa ako self na agnostic hehehehe...) so here i am not sure what to call myself at the same time not sure where to go and worship or atleast try to worship or something to that effect. hehehehe... so the answer to ur question is i dont know. hehehehehe...
taas no? wakekekekeke....
@mannyamador: oh sorry for the misunderstanding. lemme rephrase my question.
say for example me a relatively morally upright person. i dont believe in a God but i know of the message of salvation and was given a real and fair opportunity to accept it... so basically to quote u it's a deliberate and free rejection of God... then i died and then i was proven worng coz i found myself standing infront of peter for my final judgement... would being a "morally upright" person gaurantee my salvation?
so basically the question is about a non-believer who follows the commandments of God coz he thinks it's necessary to live a peaceful life who died and found out that there is a God...
@ate Gwyn: Thanks for the welcome Gwyn. ako nya i-post ako escapades as soon as ma upload nako mga pics
about the "keeping the sabbath day holy" thingy... lets say i reject the idea of a sabbath day so i opted not to keep it holy in anyway... hehehe... atleast thats what i did when i was an agnostic. now i think i'm what they call a lukewarm christian? or atleast m trying to be one. hehehehehe...
No. There's no guarantee. And in MY own opinion, the chances of salvation are lessened because the person was faced with the truth about the love of God, given all the ncessary informastion, and given a reasonable chance to accept it, and yet he went against reason and rejected the love of God. That doesn't seem right to me.Originally Posted by shoeless_rebel
The problem, of course, is that I can't see the real reasons for a person's rejection of the truth. Maybe he wasn't prepared to undertsand it. Perhaps there was some coercion from somewhere. So while I can make an objective assessment from what I know of a person's state, ultimately, the one who should judge is the pone who has all the facts. That one is,of course, God Himself.
thanks alot for the answer. i guess that was what i was looking for. basically my fate after death is between me and God and nobody else.Originally Posted by mannyamador
