As to why its not too red, you will need to experiment on it.
It *might* not be because of light.

heres an interesting read on red plants and high light.
"Need" high light for red plants? 1.8W/gal, see what you think

the tank in question has about 1.8watt/gal. 24 inches high. and the lights are about 5 inches from the water.

murag dili siya hardy. Ang una nako na macandra c/o sir iyon nabuhi man to pero kalit lang ug melt. I think it was a co2 problem at that time.

Ang green variety mas forgiving.

what i know from macranda is that they need plenty of fertz and a high light. base from my old macranda, mu melt ang stem (below the substrate) ani if kulangan na sya sa iron.
