i think a good foundation is to start as a cover band, and eventually mature and create your own style and musicality based on your influences....
even the greatest band of all times started as a cover band.... - The Beatles... as far as i know....

ok pd inyo mga mga opinions and there's nothing wrong with it, pra nko ms ok jd ang compo ky it is the avenue for us musicians to express and apply all the of the things that we have learned sa atong mga na siprs plus the foundations.

hapit tanan banda ma local or foreign nagsugod man sa cover. mao btaw usahay ang mga first album sa new bands morag dunay kaparehas nga tune. part of growing up mana sa unsa ka banda. if nag subay mo sa bandang Children of Bodom or arch enemy kada release nila ug album duna silay cover songs bali b-sides. if puros lang pud cover wla nalay compo2, mangundang ta woi. hehehe. mosikat lang sa cover, tulog ta woi. hehehe

agree gyud ko. if d kasugod daun ug compo, magsugod ug cover. pero ang nakanindot sa deretso compose, labi na lahi2 mo ug influences tanan, lesser ang possibility nai kapareha tuno. im not saying wa kapareha amoa, pero ako point is, mahulog ug fusion inyo songs of different influences. if mucover, tendency is, sa kana na kanta mudagan inyo composition. mapareha mo tanan sa imo kabanda. opinion ra na nako hap. i know daghan maayo na banda na would prove me wrong.

dako ayo ni nako nga pangotana kay akong mga amigo d man magkasinabot basta mag storya nata ani.. mag iyahay kung kinsay maayo manukar in a way, kung maayo mo cover maayo manukar,kung maayo mo compo maayo pd manukar pero ila otok d magka usa.. unsa man jud!?
sa ako lang point, iv been to cover yet i found it crystalizing music, and compo can grow your musicality, though cover is great pero cge lang day ta ug panonod?? ambot lang jud oi, unsa mka sulti ninyo guyz??

Para nako, achievement gyud nang makagama kag kanta..Pero ag challenge ana ky kung unsaon pagama og nindot nga kanta nga in parrallel sa imo music genre..So that really depends on the band's creativity, teamwork og musical background/influences sa pag-achieve ana..Hence, it's a process gyud..
Part sa process ang mo-cover kag kanta but ang importante mahibaw-an nimo from the original artist kung gi-unsa pag apply ang mga scales og techniques sa ila song as your basis pagama kanta...Benchmarking ang safest way while being original is very much appreciated...Cover lag ginagmay but i prioritize gyud ang compo..
