fossil records show otherwise. dinosaurs did not live thousands of years ago but MILLIONS of years ago. the DNA of neanderthals even date back millions of years ago, so their DNA is not completely gone.

no, DNA is not only available for a thousand years. DNA can survive a very long time given the right conditions, especially when trapped by a substance that protects that DNA from the environment. example: bacteria trapped in salt deposits.
