    its because ABS CBN encourage their talents to stay in school or at least finish schooling unlike sa imong pinalangga na talent scout ng GMA - Now is a good time for young students to quit school, practice their talents, make themselves look pretty and join the audition!!!
    boooooooooooooo

    i hope you get my point kc until now pinagdidiinan mo pa rin war of the 2 stations... get over it oi... hehehehe

    It's nice to know ABS-CBN values education. I'm not a fan of that network but I admire any organization that values education.

    As for the concept of dropping out - I think dropping out is acceptable if the youth does it to find work to help the family survive, most notably if a parent died or lost a source of income.

    But to drop out just for the sake of showbiz? That's just wrong. Why throw away your education for the glitter? Education is essential, showbiz is not.

    Even local writer Sam Costanilla wrote in his Sun.Star column:

    SPOTLIGHTER Dina Layam of Aznar road e-mailed her thoughts regarding some high school students who quit school in favor of show business. She wrote that she has a neighbor, a 15-year-old student, who stopped going to school simply because of her passion in dancing. Dina added that the student and some of her friends, who are also dropouts, formed a cultural dance troupe. They hope to get hired by event organizers and two major television networks.

    * * *

    DINA added: “Pursuing one’s dream is good but in my honest opinion, doing it at the expense of education is not only wrong but also highly immoral and irresponsible. As for Cebuano showbiz, there is really no industry existing (the Visayan rock band scene is an exception). Shows featuring cultural dancing are not abundant and the take-home pay never reaches P1,000. Even dancing on local television attracts a non-existent audience.

    * * *

    THIS writer agrees with Dina’s observation that with the poor health of Cebuano showbiz, it’s best for high school students to stay away from that “industry” and stay in school instead. She also asked them to be vigilant about dishonest talent agents and show organizers who will no doubt exploit their ignorance and weakness.

    Source - Sun.Star Cebu - Costanilla: Twin dates: Cebu Pop, Hadumanan concert

    As for Diva, I have no grudge against her but there is no justification why I should vote for her - voting blindly is a no-no. Good luck to her anyway.

    As for Ritchie D. Nolasco here, you are still so wrong and you are spreading bad examples. By encouraging the youth to drop out for showbiz, you are slowly ruining society and creating a new generation of potentially irresponsible people. For your information, I'd rather see Cebu have more doctors, lawyers, business executives, programmers and countless other progressive jobs that are made possible by education.

    bro, i think u dont get where did this discussion come from or what causes it to erupt? its because one of the talent scouts ng GMA wrote this in his campaign:

    Now is a good time for young students to quit school, practice their talents, make themselves look pretty and join the audition!!!

    which a lot of Istoryan members here didn't agree.

    Whether Diva succeeds or fails, going back to school is a must and will always be a priority. As for the dropouts who went to the auditions and failed to make the cut, they better go back to school if they have not done so. Civilization and the economy require an educated workforce and new talents produced by the educational institutions.
