For just a week of being functional, LHC has now made a world record... the highest energy particle accelerator, 1.18 TeV ( or 1,180,000,000,000 eV).

Think about this - the beam for an old CRT TV or PC monitor is just around 20keV... you need to multiply it by 59 million times to get to that energy!

And oh, by the way, the target is to reach 7 TeV. Hope all will go smoothly so we could get more interesting discoveries that will change everything in our text books.
