    Default Questions about Dumaguete!

We were in Dumaguete during the second week of April last the holy week in Bajura Spa resort in Daiun its like 30-minute drive away from the city going north.. it was the best experience..Now I have questions to the folks of dgmt I really wanted to move there (my long term plan) and I need to know on what is the buying behavior of the people down there.. I have known that the Silliman University has a lot of students and I'm trying to check on what would be the best target market just in case we will open for business there or maybe find a good business partner

    1. Are they fashionable? I mean do they buy new stuff (electronics, accesories, clothes ect in weekly, monthly.. how frequent?

    2. Do they go out to eat? like go to restaurant once a week if not daily? or do they prefer to stay at home and eat "lutong bahay".. they they go out in the bar? if yes what kind of bar do you have to have in Dumaguete?

    3. I also observed that you can make a tour in dgmt city using a motorcycle and I don't see alot of automobiles running around versus motorcycles and tricycles.. dew you think the tricycle will still dominate as the public transport in dgmt in the next 5 to 10 years? do you think it will eventually change into jeepney of buses?

    4. Do you think people there will buy high properties? like for example if there will be a high end community or villages to be developed which is the best area in Dumagete?

I hope you can highlight me on these questions back in my head and btw this thread is open for any topic anyway..

    Thanks you.

For me, what Dumaguete needs is a bookshop. something like that of National Bookstore. The city has 4 universities and a number of colleges ( a university town)...but not a major bookstore. Most students would still have to go to Cebu to buy books.

If your planning to go dolphin watching I suggest contacting the City Tourism Office of Bais City (http://www.bais.gov.ph/index.php?id1...show3rdlevel=1). It doesn't really cost that much.
Going there on your own might be difficult... unless if you have a friend who owns a pumpboat and can tour your around the Tanon Straight.

Dumaguete is a University City, hence lotsa students. Now, since you mentioned SU, ill try giving you some ideas. ALmost 2/3 of sillimanians are not dumagueteños, they come from neighboring municipalities, cities in negros, visayas, mindanao, luzon and other countries. Meaning? halos tanan naay kwarta, basta paeskwelahun gani ka sa lain lugar malamang may panggastos jud! Dumaguete mabuhi lang if may pasok if wala sus mura ghost town!

fashionable? up-to-date but not as fashionable as ateneans and lasallites. usually takes a month or two para ang mga latest clothes, electronics and stuffs makita nimo sa mga students.

eat & drink? hehehe eat mo lang!!! dili ka maZero if ull go into this business provided ok ang imo luto syempre. galaray dha ang scoobys, jbee, chowking, taster's choice, rosante etc...

5 or 10 years from now? jeeps? no, in fact I think years ago naa na unta ordinance to disallow cars, tricycles to pass by downtown. they want people to enjoy the walk just like what cebu is planning now with Colon. besides imagine if jeeps na ang mga 2 way roads there, traffic man gani sa motors lang hehehe.

High end properties? ang mga tagaNegros jud mga datu na! Daghan na kwarta, mga katchila! daghan ug tubo! observe mo, stay ka pila ka hours sa gawas chika and observe the cars passing by, youll be amazed by the new cars / models that will pass by and taking into consideration the size of the city.

    bow!
