and second, superficially national elections may gauge who the people want to lead the nation, but a seccond, more realistic look on the issue reveals how social standing (which equates to power and money) and prominence play major parts on who gets elected and who doesn't. as it appears, people usually elect not on the basis of the social contingencies that dictate their own interest, but on demonstrations of power and influence.
as i have mentioned earlier, political protest on the streets tend to get more frequent when the people see that there is really no use in going through the whole process of having their grievances heard when they percieve that these moves are really going nowhere anyway.
when the credibility of democratic institutions such as the Congress, the Presidency or even processes such as the elections or impeachments are questioned, there is this tendency that the voices of the people no longer flow through these channels. instead they flow on the streets. and when they do flow on the streets, nobody can declare that 'illegal'. this scenario pains a picture of 'representative democracy' faling due to compromises done by the elected. to redress this imbalance, 'direct democracy' informally takes its place, even for a temporary period.
that is a lesson that you and the others should learn from both EDSAs.
with appreciation i tend to disagree with that statement Gareb
im sorry i really abhor* this people power sh#t* the more i read and learned about it the more i become aware how cheap and ridiculous it was forgive if im wrong however its only an opinion
people power is more associated into* overthrowing of a sitting or recognize* government thru massing* a good number of people in the Metro M with military component and resources
it cant be classified to be extralegal it is directly prohibited by any common sense law it is illegal. what you maybe refering to is people power street protest* which is not* regulated or in case of protest with the aim of overthrowing of government,or disrupting the economy or many such actions that could curtail normal govenment functions such actions are not permitted nor sunctioned by law
it can be considered as extralegal..
this so called people power could be more than accurate of it's name if there is no military involvement otherwise it will do more harm than good
but why why we go in such extreme* direction why cant we just follow the legal way ok ok forgive me this is gonna be a long long sh#t ill try as concise as possible
first no people power will succede without military involvement but more importantly with out politicians who can delude, manipulate or infulence some important people, establishment like media,institutions..etc so blatanly and businessman for finacing cash for operation
OK now in case of that so called people power no1 on Feb. 22, 1986, an estimated 3 million Filipinos converged on EDSA MAnila to protect about 300 renegade soldiers led by then General Fidel Ramos, Defense Minister Juan Enrile, the charismatic Col. Gregorio Honasan, Col. Red Kapunan and other idealistic officers who mutined and announced their withdrawal of support of the incumbent President Marcos.
hehehehe take note of the names they are superheroes at that time but but look now what are they now? MArcos after being remove from office was exciled in hawaii* .After Aquino came to power, on March 25, 1986, she issued Presidential Proclamation No. 3, which promulgated an interim "Freedom Constitution" that gave Aquino sweeping powers theoretically even greater than those Marcos had enjoyed during martial law.
since the 1973 constitution or fourth republic or even the the 1935 or 1943 wartime constitution does not have provison for such transfer of power she has too create a new constitution so her rule is legitamate by the book. so Aquino proclaimed the new Constitution in effect on February 11, 1987 and put some transitory provision in Article 17 of the new constitution that confirmed Aquino in office until June 30, 1992, and made all members of the military swear loyalty to it.
so that why she is a legitame president..you know when you change a constitution its like you change the whole country kuwang nalang lisan ang pangalan
yes democracy is restored and many more but the price is big by removing marcos this way the military is now prone for mutiny because they were allowed to be political
more sh#t is coming now.....options and alternative to remove marcos are growing as days come,by declaring a martial law* and the repercussion of it he had made himself well-defined* villian devil he just cross the line.
and at that time after the snap election he already by all means lose his grip to power many comelec computer operators and rank and file walk out the church condemned the election as fraudulent and he lost foreign recognition particularly
the U.S.A thats why in his inauguration ceremony at Malacañang Palace* *no foreign diplomat except the the soviet abassador attend....so thats why i have a wishful idea that MARCOS will be remove from power even without the cataclysmic event of edsa one way or the other he will go..and cory aquino will succede as president
in a normal process...please if you have any other ideas for removing marcos without people power mutiny please* share it
now lets go to that lame edsa people 2 which is far more less complicated as edsa one and alternatives and options to remove erap* are all in the open.. you mention "why the SC did not consider the EDSA2 uprising as 'illegal'.hehehehehe* you cant* petition the SC for a ruling if edsa2 is illegal now. The truth is EDSA had nothing to do with itthe SC merely acknowledge EDSA had contributed an irresistible pressure for Estrada to resign.
.. and the Sc base its ruling on the presumption that ERAP RESIGNED from office thats the only way they could make it legal..it sites Estrada has effectively resigned by his acts and statements
and from the diary of former Executive Secretary Edgardo Angara* *the tribunal ruled that Estrada had effectively resigned even if he did not sign his resignation letter . The Angara diary reveals
that eraps cabinet members particularly Angara and many of hislegal adviser had created an adhoc commitee to handle the crissis and many of these adhoc commitee actions including the plan for temporaryly abandoning malacannang and many more was interpreted by the Sc as resignation.....remember ARTICLE VII of the 86 contitution specifically section 8* In case of death, permanent disability, removal from office, or resignation of the President one of these conditions
had to be met* to make ERAP ouster legal and by ruling 15-0 on the resignation....... ERAP is officialy out of malacanang and gloria succession is legitamate
althogh it is* crystal clear mutiny* what angelo reyes and lacson did even with the provisions on their mandate that* they are protector of the people by that ruling made any question on mutiny* moot and academic.
"superficially national elections may gauge who the people want to lead the nation" you mention, is there any acceptable way on how* to gauge the people's majority opinion?
our nation maybe young thus explaining its immature tendencies or drastic actions..... i believe at that time ERAP can be successfuly impeach on the next try or* he is about to* step down he had no choice instead another so called people power
came into being it just add more damage into already battered institutions particularly the military and both three branch of government exc.leg.jud... remeber the heroes and personalities of the first people power at this time the aquinos Butz,Oreta, honasan, enrile,,.etc etc are now villians*
and now present time corazon aquino herself a destibilzer* and fuedal land lord descrition by all practicality by government and news.... you see their is no monopoly of* *righteousness* even heroes and saints could be villians and devils particularly in politics
now we are being courted by so called righteous for another PP* wat th heck how do i know there will be another one and after that
another one are we going nuts in here and our poor soldiers how the he#l they can remove the stigma of peoplepower everyone of them* now can be political they can be the protector of the people if they think so ,cause once a mutiny is commited it is bound to be commited again
lets us just follow the book for our own sake lets burn all the books that conditions our minds about these people power* mutiny waaaaaaaa* and one more my favorite lets us remove the people power monument in edsa and transfer it to babuyan islands along with all the politicians associated with it..
