try this:

> if you're using vista, type "computer" (without the quotes) in the windows button search field
- one of the options should be "computer management;" click/select "computer management"
*or type in "compmgmt.msc" in the run option
> click on "disk mangement" on the left side panel
- you'll have several options available (e.g. "mark partition as active," "format," etc.)
