most peole are under the spell of FEAR , it is a common reaction to most people. they siply condem them.

man: im an athiest

religionist: u will go to hell

man: is hell true anyway ?

religionist: no question asked , in the name of god.

I think it's also the same with Christians. Christians, for so many years, have also been condemned or persecuted because of their beliefs. I've seen how others would label them as idiots or nuts simply because they believe in "fairy tales" and "imaginary friends." If atheists, agnostics, or whoever think they are not supposed to be Christians fear of condemnations, Christians do too.

only? why the word only? being an atheist at the same time moral is not conditional. conditional morality is set upon Christians who do morality out of fear of eternal damnation. atheists are moral because they ARE moral. there are no pre-set conditions like God or any other entity. and yes, i am a moral person not because i ASSUME i am moral, but because i do not do anything that cause harm to other people. PERIOD.

I am not saying that being Atheist means you are automatically an immoral being. The numbers in Federal prisions in the US show Catholics, Protestants, and Muslims are the 3 largest populations. The Ron Swift US Federal Prison numbers conflict. And there is questions pertaining to the figures used in "The New Criminology", Max D. Schlapp and Edward E. Smith which claims less than 1% of the US prison population claim to be Atheist. With a national figure of 8-10% claiming to be Atheist and the way the prisons poll ways conducted and worded there could be an Atheist prison population of just under 20%. One also has to take in account the active angelical church movements in the US prison systems.

Being a Christian or and Atheist does not preclude or exclude a man from evil acts, nor does it make them more moral or less moral. The rules are land and God or hard for many men to follow. The question is by which standards they are willing to hold themselves to. There are many laws established by God and government. Those can easily be manipulated country to country, culture to culture, religion to religion, and man to man. The concept of Morality is a sliding scale.

I have no doubt you are a moral man. You can only speak for yourself. Claiming to be an Atheist does not make you a moral being or an immoral being. It is the path each man chooses to walk in the same society.

Then there are the few that are willing to jump in and help, just in case they heed help and desire not to drown. Many will not say a thing, me I would jump in and help, not everyone is just willing to watch. You have to forgive us it is our nature. We care, and never think someone is just willing to sink to the depths. You are correct and everyone should just say nothing, but scripture tells us otherwise. We do what we do out of love, while others and you are offended. God just wires some of us different, we just can not help it, we jump in when others want to just watch. Which is right and which is wrong? That depends on the depths of your compassion towards your fellow man.

never stop somebody in the process of suicide lest you suffer the same faith.... your "scripture" is not welcome, so why force it.. consider athiesim as a religion, the religion of no god, so how is it different from the religion with a god?

your "scripture" is no way the authority of men.. it only applies to those who same like you, follow it.. there are some of us who doesnt wish to follow it.. so why bug us to follow it...

it is honestly hard to produce concrete statistics just on the basis of a person's belief. i am not sure what research/survey companies use to get results. anyhow, reason why i said on the first post---some statistics may say otherwise.

i don't disagree---precisely why i keep saying MORALITY is not based on religion alone since there are several factors that play into morality such as culture, psycho-social influences, generation, and Moral Zeitgeist.
