is there any scientific study that has scientifically proven that there is no god?

are there any scientific studies that scientifically proves the non-existence of a celestial teapot, a pink unicorn, juju at the bottom of the sea, and flying spaghetti monster? how is the Judeo-Christian God different? the burden of proof is on the believer to prove that their God exist.

i treat Christmas as a major holiday. Christians have this impression that they own Christmas. you don't own Christmas---you never did. the Solstice is clearly not a Christian holiday. yuletide came from the pagan holiday of yule---and Santa Claus is nordic.

even the Bible agrees with me:

Thus Sayeth the Lord, learn not the way of the Heathen (that's us)... for the customs of the Heathen are vain, for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with an axe. that proves my point that Christmas is not a Christian-only holiday---we all get a piece of the solstice. we have the right to celebrate! after all, it's a time of GIVING AND SHARING!

You could be very well correct, but maybe the term "Unconfirmed Atheist" should be used instead of the term "Closet Atheist". It sounds like Atheist have to come out of the closet to be recognized. The gays have that terminology pretty much sowed up for themselves. Just a thought.

it's really up to the person if he wants to call it any other names. when i use the term "closet atheist", you can think of it as "closet gays" in a sense that they know deep in their minds that they are atheists, but are afraid to come out, tell their families and friends, because of prejudicial consequences from the society.

No I do not think so, but I guess it is possible that some "Closet Atheist" could have "Closet Gays" in there families. I am am sure most Atheist are not gay. Whether most Gays are Atheist? I have no earthly idea to tell you the truth. And it is possible that some homophobes could in fact be "Closet Gays" living in denial. Could a Gay Homophobic Atheist still be in the closet? Well that may also be possible too, after all it is a big big world.

I have know several gays that were very religious beings. Atheist I can not make such claims; and homophobes could be either atheist or religious. The problem is you have homophobes who are scared too death of anything that even closely resembles anything gay-like in nature. I am sure that some homophobes could be Atheist, and would never admit anything that implies they "Come Out of the Closet."

there is no relation with gays and atheists AT ALL. i am not sure why gays are part of the subject. just because i term it "closet", some people automatically inject gays in the equation. there are no studies that indicates gays are more likely to become atheists---and vice versa.

In the end, it's all a matter of faith. If he's real, then good for those who believe him. It only means that his promises are real. If he isn't, I don't feel that it's going to be such a loss. After all, if one really follows his words, he'll end up having a good, productive, and meaningful life.

my purpose is to make it known that there are a lot more atheist than we think. also, to assure closet atheists that there is nothing to be afraid of and that there is nothing immoral about atheism. in fact, atheism is simply a realistic and rational way of viewing life. this thread is not meant to argue about God's existence---i notice that Christians like KEBOT are always the ones who initiate the debate.

Being an Atheist is not immoral only if there is no God. It is your belief that there is no God therefor you assume you are moral. If God does exist that you may be ii fact a good citizen and still be a immoral being. You using an assumption based on your belief and faith in the correctness of your belief.

Im sorry but, can you please read the first post? I dont see any malign intent in Chad_Tukes part in starting the topic. Look for the person who talked about selling spaghetti monsters. You will find your culprit.

Back on topic:

Some people just grow up and reach the point that they no longer care about religion and stuff; without the slightest detriment of their morals and ethics.

Personally, I have utmost respect for these guys and their continuing 'acts of kindness' to their fellow (big time acts or not) solely on their own sense of morals minus any fear of castigation or minus any craving for rewards from anything divine. Whether they are outspoken atheists or closet atheists, it does not matter.

And to set the record straight: This does not mean that I find religious folks as hypocrites though. I still respect them for the good things they do in the name of the entities they worship...I will not say that they are NOT in the right path; because there aren't any...
