Simply attacking a source as unreliable does not make the evidence itself unreliable since it could very well be true or used by other other reliable sources.

Sadly, instead of relying on evidence, what we see here is mostly childish rants by people who hate religion or the Church,. They automatically assume the Church was wrong on the issue based only on their hatred of the Church. Even the original title was so irrational -- and so obviously based on an unfounded assumption -- that it was changed.

Again, that's what happens when prejudice takes the place of reason. Something so very common in the Church-hating fanatics we have around here. One of them is so far gone that he actually needs professional help.
hmm.. this post sounds like one of his previous post nga gi copy paste gkan sa iya legalize abortion thread..

People will lose their jobs ? The community will lose an industry ? That only happens when MONEY is your GOD . Wosre health problems ? C'mon .. how would that turn out when the industry itself is the problem if not corrected ? The otherside of the coin was already discuss and that is th solution of the problem .

sa masuko lang gud. naa man jud church fanatics diri who believe that the church is always right. such outdated thinking. i stand my ground on saying the church is immoral on its misinformation. it used studies that were not reliable.. and its arguments are too simplistic.. the church had bear false witness against the plantations by using a biased report...
That is true in most cases specially s amga FANATICS but this time , its the other way around . It just so happened that you mr. AMORSOLOX , the threadstarter hates the church so much that you ranted here and you dont even have a clue on whats going on other than BLAMES and WHININGS against the chuch you loved to hate .

many have failed to see the big picture here.. therefore, many are too simplistic when it comes to affairs like these.. even if mag stop aerial spraying, even iapil pa nato stop ang plantations, do you think mo stop ang pag spread sa sakit? as long as their is agriculture, there is always pollution..
Pataka man lang ka oi ! Abi nako negosyante ka ? Again if you resort to EXPLOITATION and IRRESPONSIBLE ACTIONS and not minding your SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES then it would end up like that . Walay pollution oi basta mga NATURAL / ORGANIC FARMING ka .

you might as well propose to stop all agriculture.. a do hope naa mo makaon.. as for me.. i can always go somewhere where there is food.. i hope ok ra ninu ang cannibalism.. dont say i didnt warn you... kung gusto mo magutom, cge go.. and also, ayaw mo reklamo kung modaghan napud mag NPA ha (except siguro mao na inu goal).. magunsa nman lang diay mga farmers..
EDUCATION on proper farming and not being EXPLOITED by ABUSIVE and IRRESPONSIIBLE HACIENDERO'S .

that is the problem here.. there is no solid evidence... no solid study.. based on assumptions ra tanan ang claims sa simbahan.. i agree nga contributor sa pollution ang aerial spraying. but thats not the only one.. all agricultural lands contribute to the pollution.. why are the plantations being singled out? how about the subsistence farmers, who are more ineffecient due to lack of proper organization.. mao ni nka sakit sa simbahan.. pro-poor.. maski naa sayop ang poor, kay poor man lage, mo panig daun ang simbahan. there is bias...
As much as mo claim ka na walay solid evidence ang church sa ilahang pag sulti about IMMORAL na that got you offended kay businessman lage kunuhay ka , labaw pa ka bai na walay punto pod and you are also just limited to your specualtions being the threadstarter and a hater of the church . mao lage na karon , mas ikaw pa man ang IMMORAL basing sa imohang actions .

    TOUCHE'!

AD HOMINEM ! Please attack the post and not the poster .
Thanks. Those Church-haters are still focusing on attacking persons (real or juridical) because they don't have any real arguments. We should not allow such childish actions to drag down the level of argumentation.

Farmers urge SC to ban aerial spraying on Davao banana plantations | balita-dot-ph

MANILA, Oct. 9 -— A group of concerned farmers and residents in Davao has filed a petition at the Supreme Court (SC) asking that aerial spraying of pesticides and fungicides in banana plantations in the locality be prohibited.

The group, led by lawyer Arnold De Vera, is also asking the SC to affirm the constitutionality of a Davao City ordinance passed in 2007 that banned the use of aerial spraying in agriculture industry in the city.

Invoking the fundamental right to life, they claimed that aerial spraying operations have caused damages and posed danger to the health of residents of communities around the banana plantations, including skin and respiratory problems.

4 more NGOs join outcry to ban aerial spraying in Davao?s banana plantations

FOUR more nongovernment organizations (NGOs) operating globally have joined hands in the outcry calling for banning pesticides in the aerial spraying of banana plantations in Mindanao.

The four NGOs are the Pesticide Action Network in Asia and the Pacific (PAN-AP), International Persistent Organic Pollutants Elimination Network (IPEN), Greenpeace Southeast Asia and the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA). They are known worldwide for their work promoting people’s rights and welfare, and environmental issues.

These four NGOs are jointly urging Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Lito Atienza and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to act without delay in banning the practice of chemical aerial spraying. The four NGOs said they are acting on behalf of residents living on or near banana plantations being subjected to the practice.

DENR suspends aerial spraying in Davao City
    08/27/2009 | 12:02 PM

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources has ordered the suspension of aerial spraying of pesticides and fungicides in banana plantations in the Davao City area.

Radio dzBB's Davao affiliate reported Thursday that Environment Secretary Jose “Lito" Atienza Jr. also ordered a study of the dangers of aerial spraying while the suspension is in effect.

Atienza said the suspension applies to Region 11, particularly in areas near residences.

Also, he ordered the creation of a buffer zone aerial spraying, to make sure traces of fungicide or pesticide would not get near homes.

In past months, residents, local Church groups and militants had voiced opposition to aerial spraying, citing its threat to residents' health.

kamo gud.. it just amuses me we filipinoes are killing are own industries... personally, murag ika ulaw nako nga pilipino pud ko..

i am all about sustainable development.. even if ma stop ang aerial spraying, di ghapon ma solve ng health issues.. much worse. an income generating industry is being put down because of uncertain reports. even the WHO frown on such action..

what i see here are farmers being manipulated by so-called experts who said you get drinking drinking water from irrigation ditches....

so to the wiseguy who said organics dont contribute to pollution, i do hope you have basic knowldedge on the composition of fertilizers and pesticides.. ang pagkalahi ra nila kay ang organic kay well organic, mas taas carbon content.. but basically there just nitrates, magnesium, and potassium... all forms of fertilizers/pesticides generate pollutants..

so mag unsa naman lang ng mga plantations? most probably mohire na sila more workers to apply the fertilizers and pesticides which by the way im pretty sure ikalipay sa simbahan kay mohatag lage daw more employment.. kay mao man daw kuno environment friendly.. then ang mga plantation operators will increase their price to make it profitable.. that would drive the prices of the products high... making the them less competetive compared to other producers.... so kinsa man kawawa dire? those plantation owners can fire the workers and convert the plantations to other purposes..

sa ako ma comment sa action as government....
ngano karon pa man intawn na nila gi himo ang buffer zones? and why limit to the plantations, subsistence farming is also equally hazardous.. dapat butangan buffer zones in all agriculture areas.. kanang buffer zones. similar ra na sa ako gi propose nga relocations where you cant live for a certain distance.. so kadto naa sulod ani, relocate jud...

why man jud ang rich or ang may kaya ra atakehon? so the poor can make poverty their excuse for their failures? dont you think much better kung ieducate tanan, whether big landowner or substence farmer on the REAL facts about agriculture and its health hazards..

no wonder walay ganahan mo invest dire.. too much superstitions.. pro-poor indeed.. they want you to be poor.. mas nindut ng poor and ignorant ang masses.. kay dali ra patooyon and uto2xhon.. dali ra makawatan..

as a businessman, i dont like to exploit workers, but i also dont want my workers to be exploited by corrupt government and church officials..
