personally mas ganahan ko sa natural spawning para dli kaayo bun-og ang fish.

    natural spawning.

    1. conditioning the breeders. (2 males & 1 female)
separate the breeders for at least 2 weeks. feeding them with high protein foods such as bloodworms, daphnia and mosquito larvae .
make sure the conditioning tanks have adequate filtration and aeration.

    2. Preparing the breeding tank
Most backyard breeders use trapal ponds as breeding tanks. 6ft X 3ft X 1.5ft is enough to breed ur kois.
Age the water for at least 2 days and provide adequate aeration. You can make use of DIY spawning mops. In my case I use straw.

    3. The Breeding Process.
    a. put the female in the breeding tank around 6am in the morning. she is very fertile and will nest on the the spawning mops.

    b. Around 4pm put the 2 males. at sunset 5:30-6:00 pm. the males will bully the female by chasing her and pinning her down in the spawning mops, walls and the floor of the breeding tank. this will force her to lay eggs.

    c. Spawning will end at dawn or early morning. You can tell because the kois will stay still, no motion there are also cases where the kois will float in their back.

    d. Put the kois back in their conditioning tanks for recovery. Do not put them in the main pond yet because the kois are very stressed and are prone to diseases which might affect the whole pond.

    4. Eggs will hatch within 2-3 days. then will start free swimming 2 days after they hatch. feed the fry with crushed egg yolk in their first week then shift to daphnia or bbs in their 2nd to 4th week. provide adequate aeration via sponge filters.
when they reach 1 inch. Its now safe to transfer them to a mudpond to reach ideal size.

hope this helps. . gtudlo-an ra sad ko ani sa akong amigo. .

wow.. up ko ani na thread me.. na jd ko ka kat.onan karon da.. hehehe!
