Justice Series: What's the Right thing to do?

Hello guys/gals,

Just wanted to share this too..

It's from Harvard University (yes, big names, but they're really good universities, and this is one testament to it) a lecture series about Justice, morality, good and evil. I know many of you here are really interested in knowing what it is.. despite all the conflicting arguments in this forum..

So enjoy! Put out your remarkable thoughts here (remarkable meaning something you really feel strongly about, and don't be afraid of criticisms.. who knows maybe others here have already felt strongly about it in the past and arrived at some answers that may or may not be of use to you now..)

but the downside is, i think, one must be familiar with Rawls' theory of justice to pierce through sandel, since sandel criticizes rawls.

i suppose, but i'm just watching for the pleasure of it and being an observer.. i've no idea what Rawl's theory is, but its fun to watch.. hehe.. i've no intention of piercing thru sandel also..

yes its one of the better post in this parts of istorya. hope the mods will not take this away. if they wont, perhaps, the folks could discuss it here. i for one will, without having to inject 'postmodern' 'deconstructionist' deceptions, which so many folks here accuses me of incoherence hahaha.

bioethicists mani si sandel bai, so i think, its more in your field. the first statement he mentioned, is the famous trolley problem, started by prof. philippa foot from oxford, and until now it has evolved into many derivatives. But i will comment substantially kung naay lain tawo mo comment pud. after i have heard from sandel.

yeah, he is.. they told me there's a part in the series that touches the ethics of genetic engineering.. i'm quite looking forward to that lecture.. (or was that in another lecture series..)

can u give references on Rawl's? I'd like to read about it..

John Rawls, A Theory of Justice. google it. you can get the full citation, nobody in the world doing ethics, most especially in America, does not know Rawls. He's a love him or hate him person in political thought (anglo-american tradition)

Rawls was of course the one of who change the problem of "justice" from the utilitarian conception (John Locke and all). since the time of locke until the publication of rawls' book in the mid 1900. the world has been considering justice from a utilitarian perspective, it all changed when rawls came into the picture.
*our own expert, she did much on rawls during her stay in the states. Dr. E. you may want to ask her.

as much as i want to go into the ethics of biology, i'm still not wanting to go there..
i just want to be a "mad" scientist.. but it would be nice to know what the people are talking about with respect to the ethics of these things.. personally, i think these so-called "ethics" just slows down the progress of science..

but with the advent of epigenetics, i'm less worried of it becoming a "mad" scientist pursuit..
