    Worst case scenerio they could be the beginnings of anchorworm or even skin flukes which are treatable. Anchor worms will give your fish red type circles. See if you can see a white type of worm sticking out from it's scales. if not Red blotches, spots or ulcers indicates irritation from dirty water or bacterial infection. Chances are it is bacterial. Water changes are the best for your fish as well as meds for the infection.or try sad e SHOCK treatment, dip your fish in salwater for 5 minutes usually shocks the parasites.
