Win64 bit vs Win Vista

Im currently using WinXP and have a AMD64 system... I wanted to use Win64 but as I have read in one thread that I should wait na lang for Vista... Should I?

I have a system here at home running WinXP 64bit and it's done nothing aside from collecting dust. The problem with the 64bit version is that you need 64bit drivers as well. Most manufacturers at the moment have been lazy providing one for their hardware. I guess their all gearing up Vista which will natively support both 32bit & 64bit.

My rig is using Epox 9npa3 ultra and Inno3d GF6600 vcard... You mean to say I need 64 bit drivers for these units? What about when vista will come... where should I know if these is capable of installing it?

I saw one site (i forgot lang kung where, i'll check it up) it says that vista requires DirectX 10 up compatible hardwares ONLY... is this really factual or just a presumption?

No, Win X64 is already a final version its what i ment beta was MS used that as a testing OS for 64 bit

ic... cge i'll try using it wen maka palit nako karong saturday then akong experimentuhan dayon... but kinahanglan man daw kuno ug 64 bit drivers... pwede kaha ni sya sa akong rig? check nya nako kung naa ba koy drivers ana daan or mudownload pako...

you have to download the 64bit drivers are most of them are really buggy pa..

I suggest you install WinXP 64bit on separate partition or hard drive. That way you can dual boot to either.

I do not know about vista... but xp64 does wonders... fast... this does not mean that you dont have to have a high end pc. being 64 bit means it can ulitize your pc to its maximum...

32 bit systems have a maximum of like (approx) 1.5 GB of ram to utilize... more than that and the system would not utilize it very well

64 bit systems can utilize up to more than Hundreds of GB or RAM (not that its possible to have this amount of RAM but you get the picture)


I have tested this with my dual core amd setup with 1 gig ram 2x 256MB(each) SLI config PC and heres the results

- faster environment (copying, searhcing, pasting of files)
- runs most games (does not run the online game freestyle)
- runs all my needed software such as photoshop illustrator 3dsmax etc.

well these are my results... I dont know with the others.. and this is based on human judgement no benchmarking software etc.
