Da Vinci Code was the first Dan Brown book i've ever read..I first heard of it from a friend who suggested me to read it..my curiousity got the better of me and viola! a very good friend gave me a PDF file of the whole book..i'd read it in the office and sometimes at home..The book (purely fiction) gave shocking revelations on Christ, Leonardo da Vinci, Opus Dei, Mary Magdalene, etc..Nevertheless, whatever i've read never affected my faith and belief on my religion...BUT if ever the things mentioned in the book were true especially about Magdalene's relationship with Jesus, it's really not so much of a big deal to me..He is man (a son of God), has feelings like us and capable of loving someone...it will still not affect my faith in Him..

If you believed that Jesus was indeed married...and to Magdalene, perhaps you should question your bible....and, should question the people behind it and try to protect its so-called authenticity. You could start by questioning who wrote the bible? is it really the word of God? Is it all true? is it accurate? if you will ask me...the answer is NO. I was born from a very devout Catholic family...but since i started my secondary education, i got interested in history. Digging deeper in the history of the church made me realized that the very religion that i am in is basically nothing more but a business. Dont get me wrong, I do believe in God, but not the way the Roman Catholic church wants me to believe. The Da Vinci Code is pure fiction but its plot rotates in an old thoery of Jesus, not actually a god, but a mere person like us. the only difference between me and Jesus is he is a royalty. Born of noble blood. The tag "Jesus: King of the Jews" is actually accurate. But he is nothing more than that. He is indeed a King coz he descended from the blood line of King David and King Solomon. The Bible itself said so. I am just wondering why the church insists that Mary Magdalene is a prostitute when there is no line in the bible that says she is? and why would the church wants us to believe that Barabas is a thief when the bible itself didnt say so? perhaps you would like to research on the name of Barabas itself. It came from an aramic word which actually means "son of the rabbi". The bible was never specific why Barrabas was imprisoned except for the line that he was in a roit in the market place. And do u think that people could be stupid of choosing to let go of a so-called thief instead of somebody who just preach? And do u know that the book of Mark never mentioned anything about ressurection and Jesus meeting with the disciples after the crucifixion? it was only in the eleven hundreds that the church added it up. but since the bible was compiled until more than a thousand years after Jesus' death, there was no mention of the "greatest" miracle of ressurection.

Dan Brown: The Da Vinci Code is a novel and therefore a work of fiction. While the book’s characters and their actions are obviously not real, the artwork, architecture, documents and secret rituals depicted in this novel all exist (for example, Leonardo Da Vinci’s paintings, the Gnostic Gospels, etc.). These real elements are interpreted and debated by fictional characters. Although it is my belief that some of the theories discussed by these characters may have merit, each individual reader must explore these characters’ viewpoints and come to his or her own interpretations. My hope in writing this novel was that the story would serve as a catalyst and a springboard for people to discuss the important topics of faith, religion and history.

Q: But doesn’t the novel’s "Fact" page claim that every single world in this novel is historical fact?

Brown: If you read the "Fact" page, you will see it clearly states that the documents, rituals, organization, artwork and architecture in the novel all exist. The "Fact" page makes no statement whatsoever about any of the ancient theories discussed by fictional characters. Interpreting those ideas is left to the reader.

You still don't get it? If Jesus indeed married Magdalene, then the very foundation of your faith (if you are Roman Catholic) which is the bible, is incomplete and could not be trusted. How could you totally believe into something if you will find out that there is an error in it? furthermore, seeing an error from something big, dont you think you accommodate the idea that there could be a lot more errors in it than fact? or perhaps, the bible itself is also fiction.....

@iceinhell.....there is no religion higher than the TRUTH....mao ra na ako gituhuan bro...i know the bible has been "edited" ...i know they found the gospel of St Thomas and The Gospel of Mary (Magdalene) recently and these were left out of the bible ...so i kind of agree with you about your point sa bible....pero all these things can not touch my faith.....faith man ning ako bro...i am not talking about religion...

oh well.. its a good thing i didnt read the book i just watch it from national geographic and they sort of investigate if its true or noevand it turns out a pure fiction. Case closed! :mrgreen: or is it?

I read this novel and I think this is one of the most gorgeous novels that I have read. Many Catholic people said that this is an anti-Christ novel but for me it is not because not all things that you can read in this novel are true. The novel The Da Vinci Code is under the category fiction. We all know that fiction books (different stories novels) are the books that are not true-to life. They are just an invented story, a creative writing and an imaginary tale. Before you read this novel, see to it that you understand well the fact (a page before the prologue) so that you will not be confused when you start reading the whole novel. The novel is an interesting one and has a good twist in every chapter and its an awesome one.

yeah. it changed me a bit. i had doubts now... im trying to regain it back coz i feel so stupid.
everything stated on the back givess me hesitatiiions. i guess my fooundations wasnt that strong.

the movie adaptation is coming this summer, starring tom hanks and that girl who played Amelie in Amelie. i didn't read nor i have any plans on reading it. i mean, just because everyone is making quite a stir of itdoesn't mean i have to jump in the bandwagon. and yeah, since it is coming to our screens i think i'll rather watch it than start read..
