I love this topic "Why does Man believe in God" and when someone who believes in God, answers why they believe they do; Then it becomes "chad_tukes Private Roast of God believers and creationist", nice gimmick.
Why do I believe in God? Every fiber of my being feels his presence, and my heart believes. That is what is called Faith. I can not explain it, but I feel it, and I will never be without it again. I will die with my faith. You have to feel it to understand it. It just is.
i'm just saying that if he's an all powerful GOD then he wouldn't have any limitations.Nice for you to know the limitations of God, to have the knowledge that no man can possible possess. He did not leave us, it was we who left him. Man has free will and the freedoms it allows. Then want God to make us mindless zombies with rings in our noses, to be lead at will. If I were God I would had wiped us all out during the flood. No boat. We do not deserve Grace and Salvation. He shows more love than me. I can be no more proven right or wrong than you can be be proven right or wrong.
i wouldn't call myself misdirected. if it was the case, aren't we all are?I do not think you special. I know you are not a "Jerry's Kid", "Special Olympics contestant", or retarded. I think you are a clever guy, maybe a little lost or misdirected, but still a clever guy.
that is quite a conclusive statement. you seem to have this thing of putting words into my mouth with absolute certainty.Yes you keep telling us that often, but many do not agree with that statement.
I see his hand everywhere in his creation, and I see his miracles every day. I can feel God's presence in my life. God does not need to manifest himself to me for me to have faith. But I am just blind, close minded, and blurred vision. Yet, I believe I see better than you.
the stories of miracles written about Jesus were documented decades after his death. no ancient historians would take that seriously. Luke never met Jesus. he probably was friends with Paul but he never met him. i believe that there was a preacher called Jesus who PROBABLY existed, but i don't think he was divine any more than other itinerant preachers in his time.I believe that those around him saw it. Only one apostle died a natural death, eleven went in different directions and died brutal deaths for their beliefs. Several were given the opportunity to escape death just by saying what they said they saw was false. Each choose death instead. I believe the people of the time and those that saw and heard him speak believed they saw what they saw. It is just too bad they did not have a camcorder, recording tapes or MP3 players to record the events. That is why it has to be taken on faith.
i wasn't talking about the evidence for evolution. i was talking about the evidence of Jesus' miracles. That can not be proven either way, and this is a false statement. It is merely unproven until evidence is found to prove it. You believe in evolution and that man descended from ape, yet that missing link has not been found yet. Does not prove man's evolution is wrong, these just have not been evidence yet to prove it or disprove it. The answer to why man has a brain 92% larger than we use. Does not disprove man's de-evolvement, the evidence has not been found to prove or disprove it. Science is just still out on the subject. Needs more data.![]()
funny you call it gimmick. the discussion was nice until one person of the name of KEBOT butted in and started questioning me like he's a lawyer. my posts were merely a response to his post. the faithfuls have this tendency of being defensive when they feel that their beliefs are being threatened. as what RODSKY said, "perhaps some people here also think that whenever I say something negative about religion, that I'm "promoting" atheism."
If Jesus did raise the dead, cure the sick, heal the blind, and displayed miracles then the locals would have seen and knew these people who could have lived long lives in those communities. That is why I believed his movement grew even with the Jewish religious authorities trying to stop it form growing. They saw something that changed their world in decades that had lasted previously for centuries. I know it is hard for us to believe today, but they easily believed to the point of death. I think they saw wondrous things that left for them no doubt. I have no proof, other than the understanding of the weaknesses of human nature. These people faced cruel punishments for their faith, yet they believed and their numbers grew not by conversion of sword, but by the free will of spirit.
It was not the best word to use. I like KEBOT he is radical about his Christian belief as Myself, and RODSKY is a fair Mod. I do know that you come under fire for your comments and it can make you defensive, and when coming from several different directions at the same time it can be daunting at times. Religion and Politics will do that. This forum is one of the few that allows this type of exchange on these topics. I hope they do not stop, because it allows the exchange that rarely happens in face to face conversations between Christians, Muslims, Buddhist, New Age, Satanist, Occultist, Wicca, and Atheist. Even If I disagree with some of your views I believe you have the right to voice them, that is how we grow and learn. Free Exchange is how we evolve as a culture, Censorship progresses only intolerance and ignorance.
They are your beliefs voice them it is your right, and the hell with me are anyone else who tries to say otherwise.
sigh ,,, god does nothing but create trouble/,,,,,,,,,,...... tsk tsk tsk
