We have different dialects, like bicolano, ilokano, illongo, cebuano. The only way to unite us is to have a common language. Why not English? because it is not our language.

The government is forcing other inhabitants in this archipelago to adapt this tagalog language! For me my language is cebuano, as the so-called national hero said: "ang taong hindi magmahal sa sariling wika ay katulad ng isang masangsang na isda."

So tagalog is not my sariling wika, and we will never be united by adopting this language.

Decided not to have a TV at home. Got DSL instead.

Would you agree then to have cebuano as the national language? This could be possible since it is the 2nd most widely used dialect in the Philippines (based on wiki 2000 data) and radio stations in manila are sometimes using cebuano now as well. In any case, we need to have one national language in order to understand each other. If you think this will not unify us, then what will? (This could be another interesting topic, how bout creating another thread?)
