here you have god, and more god, and more non-god. But what are we doing? building up something, for whose ends? our ends! not god? the jesuits were wrong, have always been. its never 'for the greater glory of god' its always for the greater glory of man - which is at the same time our own defeat.

Ang problema kasi sa iyo, you automatically generalize someone's beliefs/behaviour based on a few, short remarks in this thread without even checking out that person's other activities in these boards. If I were a true nihilist, why should I bother to even encourage people to get interested in things like astronomy etc? Why should I even volunteer my own time and effort, without any evident reward, to share my fascination for all things celestial? Why do I spend time trying to improve my physique by exercise and playing airsoft if I, as nihilists are described, "in despair and have despotic demeanor?" Simple. You are fond of putting people in little boxes and labelling those boxes in this manner "Ok, person A is this so he belongs in Box A, and person B is that so he belongs in Box B. I don't like person A because he belongs to THAT class of people whose ideas I dislike". Myopic, IMHO.

u know why people discuss a lot here in S&O, because the mod is democratic enough to get people interested in S&O, and not have his following instead.

That's basically the picture you want to paint of me. Yes, by the tone of your remarks, you want to express to the readers of this section of iStorya that you've got me "all figured out", that you know my intents, my wishes, my desires. Either you figured all that by some unbelievable form of telepathy or clairvoyance, or perhaps some cunning innate skill akin to the sheer deductive abilities of someone like Sherlock Holmes or the Hardy Boys.

If everything you said about me just now were true, then the people knowing these facts will be more aware of my "maligned intents", and perhaps, it's for the greater good. I mean who would actually want to contribute to the detriment of a topic, let alone an entire forum, right? However, if in the long run, it really doesn't make any difference, or if in fact (worse) it runs contrary to facts, then, like always, only time will tell if how you describe me (or wish to describe me) is really true or not. I have the ability (and luxury of time) to wait.

Sorry for derailing the thread. But I simply cannot allow having a guy enjoy the luxury, comforts and "sanctuary" of a "democratic subforum", led by a democratic moderator in the person of SPRINGFIELD, to blatantly demean me in broad daylight, simply because of what? That I'm "lording" over the Science thread? Give me a break--I'm the moderator of the science thread--it's my job to monitor it. If people believe that whatever I do there amounts to "lording" or misleading people to "follow me" then I vote that all of you who believe this should vote me out as moderator of that section. If you dislike me that much as moderator of that section then please do recommend me to be removed from that position. After all, these forums are supposed to be democratic right?

it would be cool to know everything.. i wish i knew that.. but as my dear professor said, its close to impossible to know everything.. however, one can be an expert at something..

You don't want to clash, yet you utter words with such sarcasm and obvious personal intent. You, sir, contradict your own words.

Some people would even consider that in Case #3, I can file for something like libel, because you are declaring that I'm doing something maligned to people (i.e. letting them blindly "follow me"), yet you have absolutely no proof that such is the case, yet you still dare expound that here, deliberately and (in a way) with a hint of malice.

seriously, when you think someone is attacking your pride, you begin to brandish and wave around your *mod* status..

that's a sure sign of insecurity.. just an fyi..
