you are right, sir. my father said the same thing. he was in the army. his comrade got his brain blown off while fighting by his side. every soldier have some "anting-anting" or oracion or whatever they have faith in to ward off death. like those who've never fought in battles, it is easy for me to say that war is a failure of intelligence and while it is true, for the men and women in the field there are no atheist in fox holes.

^^ a simple google search would show u otherwise.. there are atheists in foxholes.. I do respect military men who protect our freedom and sovereignty because without them we wouldn't be typing here exercising our rights to free speech. With that aphorism "no atheist in fox holes" serverly disrespects the men who fought for our beliefs that are atheists. Have respect please..there are atheists in foxholes and knowing that makes me proud to be one.. they know what they are going to lose if they die and that is life.

Then I stand corrected: "There are FEW Atheist in fox holes" is that better?

Well good for them, then I am sure they just pray to themselves that they are not wrong.
My how things have changed in 25 years. They were not suppose to be gays in the military and yet now they are many, Wicca is now a recognized religion, and swollen with Atheist in the ranks.

So I guess this is how it goes now:
Those in fox holes pray to God, Satan, and Themselves (that the other cocksucker gets killed instead).

as what gunnery master sergeant hartman sez:
If you ladies leave my island, if you survive recruit training, you will be a weapon. You will be a minister of death praying for war. But until that day you are pukes. You are the lowest form of life on Earth. You are not even human, ****ing beings. You are nothing but unorganized grabastic pieces of amphibian shit. Because I am hard you will not like me. But the more you hate me the more you will learn. I am hard but I am fair. There is no racial bigotry here. I do not look down on niggers, kikes, wops or greasers. Here you are all equally worthless. And my orders are to weed out all non-hackers who do not pack the gear to serve in my beloved Corps. Do you maggots understand that?
    gawd bless the marines!!

more quotes from gunnery master sergeant hartman:
The deadliest weapon in the world is a marine and his rifle. It is your killer instinct which must be harnessed if you expect to survive in combat. Your rifle is only a tool. It is a hard heart that kills. If your killer instincts are not clean and strong you will hesitate at the moment of truth. You will not kill. You will become dead marines and then you will be in a world of shit because marines are not allowed to die without permission. Do you maggots understand?

Semper Fi is short for Semper Fidelis which is Latin for "Always Faithful"
5-1/2 years I wore the green, but an injury suffered in Beirut 1983 never healed and I have had a limp since I was 26. I was stationed in Okinawa and served during 5 operations with Filipino troops in south Mindanao. I learn to respect the Filipino soldiers and Marines, their dedication was beyond reproach. I believe the Filipino Marine and Army are one of the best Jungle fighting soldiers in the world. The Philippine people should be proud of these men.

I saw a many of them pray before a conflict, and their courage did not waver, splendid dedication to their cause. They deserve more than what this country can afford to give them. I know that many members are pacifist, but you owe them more than you realize. Support your military because they will die to preserve your right to practice your belief.

There are countries that have their eyes on the Philippines because they want the riches this country possesses. This country gets invaded and you become a slave, ignoring that fact is not wisdom. The military is the only line of defense you have between being free Filipinos and an aggressive countries slave.

Support you military and your Country. You have an election that may be the most important in this countries history. The choice of enlightenment and proper governance, or darker times of rampant corruption and more lost rights. I hope you make the right choices. The youth of this country can make a change if they work together for a righteous cause. People's Power does work, I saw it first hand before, and it was a thing of beauty.
