yes its a FACT that it was invented and i even read the classic book of DANTE "PURGATORIO" which is full of symbolic interpretation. The church owes DANTE a lot because of that book and not because of the bible!

Purgatory is a just symbolic and not literal just like in dantes book and nothing else!

may be you should read more books other than that of Dante. para deli mastuck imo knowledge on some old school ideas.
