like you singleserving friend, i think Kliz is hooked with Chuck Palahniuk too. she even bought a signed copy First Edition of the Fight Club book. i couldn't stop her... the book's worth every cent.

i really enjoyed Fight Club, not just bcuz edward norton was on it. i thought Palahniuk was one of those on-hit wonders and i didn't know that he had other books until Kliz lent me Diary. i even got myself a copy of Lullaby. both books are witty, funny and morbid... i like so like them! not to mention, the thoughts he imparts... makes me lament the passing of reason from people's minds.

I've read Fight Club, Choke, and Survivor.

    I highly recommend Choke.

Wow. I would never be able to afford that. Good for her! I almost never buy books brand new but Chuck is an exeption (and Trainspotting). I can't remember which I loved first, ED Norton or Fight Club, although Ed certainly makes the movie better.
That's precisely why I love his books. They're so dark but humorous at the same time and allude to a greater purpose/issue than to thrill or entertain (though it DOES entertain,a lot). There is always a profound thought or meaning behind all the *** and gore and wierd factoids. That has been one of the criticisms about his writing though, that the narrator always seems to have the same voice, whether s/he be a man or woman, a former model, a white collar worker or the sole survivor of a death cult.
Anyway, I found that I seem to be a fan of Transgressional fiction because I seem to relate to the feelings of discontent of the characters. Albeit, they do deal with the feelings in a much more extreme manner...
    whew!

oh yeah... me too. i like characters who struggle from the society's norms and whims. i remember one friend said something about palahniuk after reading Lullaby, "he's probably one author who makes me think twice about going down... i didn't know oral *** can be fatal. damn!"

anyway, if any one of you is interested in buying a signed copy first ed of the book Fight Club, i know someone who's selling another copy. you may also wanna check out his site at http://www.avalon.ph/auction/xcAuction.asp
