He's gone of the deep end. I guess rye736 forgot to read the thread title!

Fanatical adherence to ideology will do that.

More ad hominems? Still no answer? No evidence or logical refutation of arguments from you? I knew it. You never had any to begin with.

So true! If you notice, the ones who support the legalization of prostitution just pretend that they have some higher moral system -- one which crushes human dignity in the name of being "practical". Such ideas are dangerous because they destroy people's lives. They don't improve anything. We should reject these absurd ideas.

it is indeed quite practical to legalize prostitution.... but what i fear are the unknown consequences that will arise from such legalization. We may regulate one problem but create two or more in the process. In a moral standpoint, prostitution should never be allowed. In a financial standpoint, i don't think this will promote progress and development although the country may generate revenues from this but in the greater scheme, this degrades the society. It may need some laws to be revised to accommodate the legality of prostitution. Family is the basic unit of society, and the Constitution recognizes this as something very important. If Prostitution is legalized, something like this might happen:

Wife: Damn you! you went to the brothel again! Damn u and all those prostitutes! Do you ever think about the future of your family? What about us and your children!?

Hubby: Shut up woman! I do no harm! Prostitution is legal, right!? I am breaking no laws! As long as providing you with food and shelter, you have no right to complain!

Wife: That's it! Im having a divorce! You can keep all your money to yourself! I can be a Prostitute too you know!

Daughter: (thinking to herself) wow, im gonna be just like mommy! I want to be a prostitute someday too!

I really don't think it is to our country's best interest to legalize prostitution....

Buddhists, Taoists, Muslims, Agnostics and Atheists may disagree with you. You cannot ignore other belief systems and then complain when they try to assert themselves.

Still no evidence or logical refutation of the arguments that dispute your point? How can you say why prostitution should be legalized but not the others I've mentioned? What makes prostitution different? Still no justification? I thought you wanted a discussion?

Not again. Look, I've already stated that I do not support legalization. I am saying that the idea should not be disregarded and that there are benefits which deserve serious consideration.

That is the logical conclusion of such absurdity.
Below is my response clarified with a definition of prostitution:

Rape and murder have clear victims whereas a financial arrangement between two consenting adults (prostitution) does not. Also when you mention drug peddling well......alcohol is a drug and has been legally regulated for hundreds of years!

You see Manny it is patently obvious that you are implying that to consider anything beyond your realm of reasoning is to take a walk down the the road to darkness. Prostitution, rape, murder, drug peddling.... you lump them all together as if they are all the same thing when in fact they are completely different issues. I would call this behavior scaremongering!
