anyway, longer life span is just one advantage..
LED is still pretty much under development unlike Incandescent and Fluorescent which are almost already at their prime. LED has much much more potential to have more lumens/Watt.. Thus, for same brightness, we can have lower wattage, resulting to lower electrical consumption.
Also Incandescent and Fluorescent bulbs produce heat (which is wasted energy) in order to produce light, while LED heat is pretty much minimal since electricity is converted directly into light.

For life span, theoritically, ideal LED will have infinite life span.. but in reality, this will translate to a decade or two.. Why LED has infinite life span? LED is a diode...with no heating parts..I would not go into details na..basta mao na 'na..diba marky?

In summary, in less than a century, incandescent, fluorescent, mercury, halide, etc. will be a thing of the past except for special purposes.. LED will be here to stay, unless another technology supersedes it..

well, i saw somewhere in the net using LED for planted, mahal lagi kaayo. naa pay murag simulation nga ang LEDs are time controlled, kung pila ka LEDS mag sige, sa morning and then sa udto, full blast and then sa hapon gamay nalang. pero yes, mahal kaayo.
