The only difference between an Athlon64 and Sempron64 processors is the L2 cache and in some cases the stock frequency. Even if the cache is small that of Athlon64 there is a slight difference on some benchies but is obviously held backwards when it comes to gaming, since games are memory extensive applications. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...on-2600_5.html but an overclocked Sempron is rather equally fast as Athlon in gaming. Yes your right Sempron can't cope up with Athlon at stock frequency when it comes to performance. Of course a dirt cheap processors is logically not as fast as the expensive ones. But if your wise, buy the cheap ones and overclock it to achieved a desirable performance that of the expensive ones. It's no brainer.

Hey i tried both sempron 2600 and celeron D 2800 same price... mas nindot performance and CELERON D ayaw na prescot that was befor.. palit og CELERON D 2800 bai mas nindot 256 L2 cache, and 64bit nasad na... mas lig-on and Celeron kay sa sempron.... TRUST ME i tried it both........

I never heard of a Celeron D with a 2800 model number, I think you mean Celeron D with 2800mhz clock frequency the Celeron D 336. Yes Celeron D 336 is better in some application than the Sempron 2600 actually 336 direct competitor is the Sempron 3000. I checked he prices at PCX 336 is 3450 while 3000 is 4850 so I think the 336 is a better buy, Intel is much cheaper now a days.
