that's why we're given the freedom and intellect and with it comes responsibility. the Bible is not ought to be taken literally. if it is, then i should have already cut my limbs and legs (referring to last sunday's Gospel) a long time ago.

freedom - calling/referring God as "Bro". "Bro" is not a deregatory term since it's a shortened "brother". hence by using it in that context, it doesn't only mean that God/Jesus is our brother but He is among us. we can even call God/Jesus as "Bai" referring to Him as our friend, a close friend.

intellect - it's very clear what "Bro" means in may bukas pa. read between the lines and don't take it literally.

the key? RESPECT in using such term/name.

i think i got the TS' point..

he is trying to point out on using "bro" (which is a kanto word) referring to the Most High God, the Name Above All Names, the One who is seated on the Highest Throne... now, with this "bro" being used to name or call out to God the Father/Son, some (or most) people tend to forget that they are communicating to a Holy God - one that is Sacred, one that is Righteous, one that is worthy of our Highest Respect.

i didnt post here to debate.. i just want to share what I have understood on the posts on this thread

God deserves the highest of respect and no name, especially 'bro' should be attached to His name.

I think I got snowleopard's point as well. For him siguro, God should be accorded only one name i.e. the one taught at school. It's not wrong, kay it's his way of giving respect. So, for him who believes that, he is led to think that calling Jesus "Bro" on a friendly level is a disrespect. I would have to agree that calling Jesus openly as "bro" is against the traditional teaches of Catholicism.

However, I believe in a totally personal relationship with God. Being unable to call him by intimate names only made me look at Him as someone who is not approachable just like calling a monarch "Your Majesty" because we can't easily approach them without resorting to middlemen, etc. Though I can agree with some of the TS' point, I still think Santino's calling of Bro is just a representation of how personal we should be with God.

God knows everything so if imong intention kay call Jesus as bro for a bad intention or bugal2x, then kana nga time naka sala gyud ka og blasphemy pero if dili bad, aw wala gyud kay guilt ana.
I agree. It depends on what you intended with the name.

    Just my two cents. @-@

At least they have good intentions in doing so. But, I respect your opinion. I think you're just overreacting as if you know how God feels. The church knows better than you. don't you think? By the way, I think you're the one disrecpectful. You refer God as an "elder".

It like addressing to father, "pa", "dad"
    or your siblings, "tol"

the show only ephasize that the character has a personal relation with Jesus nga na tawag niya og "bro".

we use "bro" to anyone around us and not showing disrespect. Jesus, being a human Himself and as our brother, i see no disrespect if i call Him "bro" in a personal level.

God Himslef, is not arrogant nga dili siya mapatawag og bro if we have a personal relatioship with HIM.
I agree with you bro. That's what fellow istoryans call each other. The TS is the one who is arrogant.
