The way we treat mentally ill people in Pinas is so backward. We don't put them in a mental institution because we think it's cruel. We think we can take care of them just by loving them and nurturing them at home. We cannot CURE mental illness with LOVE alone. These people need medical attention. Putting them in the hands of medical experts who can give them adequate help is the kindest and the most loving thing we can do for them.

This tragedy could have been prevented.
