unless ur a really serious underwater photographer and earning from it or ur bathing in coldcash then ok rah
and also u have to consider getting the strobe lights or the lighting equipement kay pointless imo DSLR w/o the proper lighting. so another cost na pud. I dont even wanna mention the price (shud cost u more than double)
sa akong point of view nga pobre tawn but (but still I manage to get a DSLR for the pure love and passion of photography) maka libat ang price.

basta don't just buy it out of sheer whim. make sure what your into if you really into it and love it then its worth the investment.

or mag point & shoot cam sa ka and the underwater casing. shud cost u less that Php20k just to get familiar with the lighting moods underwater and the very different subjects.

if im taking my DSLR underwater I want to make sure its in a very secure rig. its a DSLR we are talking about and I wanna recommend also a secure rig.
sa akoa lang ni ha.
not just some gadget that even when u asked the dealer if its really tight and leak proof mu shrug lang then mu ingon "suwayi lang".
just purely my opinion
i cant just recommend something and just say also "suwayi lang" (it's your DSLR anyway not mine)

here's a similar set up...

...that's a Canon 1Ds in there with a 580 flash. the french photographer I
assisted always says a little prayer before diving in.

I'd feel uneasy also giving a dslr a dunk. but on the other hand, think of
photos you could create with manual control, choice of lenses, and better
quality photos from the bigger sensor.

I'm not planning to use this just for some outing on the beach, I intend to
come up with something more worthwhile.

I actually helped some of students do an underwater shoot before for an
exhibit of ours. I brought in one of my father-in-laws aquariums. placed that
in the pool and added some weight to half submerge it. then my student would
duck in and take some shots. here's what she came up with...

I have used one of these "plastic bags" many years ago.
They work fine in shallow water but if you want to do some serious scuba diving they are not that good.
The one I had we took down to 30 meters and due to the water pressure you couldn't operate the camera anymore.
I'm not sure how much pressure the cameras can absorb.

If you are serious about underwater photography better get a housing made of Aluminum or anything thats hard and will absorb the water pressure.

Ok ra man tingali na ang DiCaPac kung mabaw ug snorkling pero kung lawn na jud mga 10 meters below mag P&S lang ko with UW case. Luoy ayo ang DSLR ana. Mahala pud sa UW case para DSLR oi almost 3x sa presyo sa cam. May rana kung i career na jud ang UW shoot. Bittersweet kaayo mag scuba dive nga way UW cam, daghan ayo nindot nga talan-awon pero no camera to record it.

^^ yah ok ra if mabaw ra but why not use a point & shoot instead of risking a DSLR?
using a DLSR for those "shallow water" shots is nothing much of an accomplishment a point & shoot can't do. and unless ur seriously into underwater photography & w/ the technical skills in scuba diving then a UW rig & strobes for lighting is the thing for you. it doesnt matter how much the cost as long as your not just into it out of pure whim.
