Nintendo Wii price drop confirmed? This update from Gamepro.
OMGNintendo reported this story about a week ago when it first broke. GamePro ran with it and added word of the Toys R Us scan you see above, which mentioned the new $199 price. In the days since, similar scans of upcoming circulars showing the $199 price have appeared that are allegedly from Target and Best Buy.
Now the site Nintendojo is reporting that Nintendo has confirmed the price drop in a retailer conference call where an (anonymous) staffer was present. According to this staffer, Nintendo's representative also set a date for the Wii price drop, September 27. This would be consistent with everything known about the ad circular scans-- all seem to be set to hit during the first week of October.
I wouldn't say the Wii price drop is a lock just yet, but I'll be very surprised if the 27th rolls around and we don't hear about the new price. Retailers don't print ad circulars just to screw around with games (lol) journalists.
If the Wii was much more affordable, I will consider buying it. It has some very interesting games as well.
