nag Fender round-wound strings ko. ang akong genre is old fashion rock and roll, wala kaayo'y slaps. Just typical padagan-dagan and the occasional slide. naka basa ko once sa Bass Guitar magazine nga for this type of genre, mas maayo daw ang flat-wounds. so, nisuway ko og Maya nga flat-wounds and discovered some truth to this. Kung diretso plug-on sa amp without effects, the flat wounds has less sustain, nindot i-dagan-dagan but bati i-slide. mas higher pud iyang treble.
i'm back to using Fender round-wounds on my Squire precision bass kay mas flexible. lisod mag dala og 2 bass guitars, unless you have several sets that requires both electric and acoustic bass. if i want less sustain to gain the effect of a flat-wound then i simply adjust the sustain control. pero mas ganahan ko mogamit og acoustic bass for acoustic sets.
for my Ibanez AEB-8 acoustic bass, I use Fender acoustic bass strings pero I remove it after every gig. I slap on Maya flat-wounds on it aron mas dako og volume when I use it without an amp para praktis-praktis. Bungol man gud ang acoustic bass strings kung dili nimo i-plug on. I had another acoustic bass guiitar nga made in Opon wherein I used barato ra nga round-wounds nga gamiton nako kung mag jamming sa beach or mag-inom aron dili ko mahadlok ma garas. I used a classical guitar body and placed a full-scale bass neck on it. loud kaayo paminawon.
mga twice a month, haplasan nako og Dunlop 65 string cleaners and conditioner aron ma extend ang life sa string. didha ko kapalit ani sa Gaisano Tabunok, tag php300 plus. I also use this for my acoustic guitars.
