Im a bang-for-the-buck kinda guy and Im really budget conscious but really needs a powerful pc that is in my budget range... I dont want a top of the line pc coz I definitely cant afford it...

I just wanna play some games like NFS MW and am into photoshop...

    hope somebody can help...

Anyways, you're right about wattage being very huge for PD unlike AMD... but somebody wrote that he can OC PD up to 3.4GHz...

Im not an overclocker but im really into techs... please help somehow...

    ty!
3.4ghz!? thats way too low boy.
got a PD820 here i can post it to 4.3ghz on AIR(xp90-c) BUT not stable.
running it 24/7 @3.8ghz rock stable with dual prime 95.

go to cpuz and you'll see PD820's rocking 5GHZ.

i wonder why people complain about the heat, WHY are you guys had your fingers stocked on the CPU heat sink that you complain about the smithfiled's heat?

this is not BIO peps. these are chips that are advertised to run at this temps.
got mine idling @48C and on dual prime got hit up to 74C , but no worries, im not sticking my fingers in the heat sink anyway

how about its performance with games? are they competitive? coz as what i saw in the benchmarks even a 3000+ venice core can outrun pd'z...

and here in cebu murag gamay ra kaayo ang nag baligya ug pd's nag mobos... only available is the intel945 mobos which is according to some forums is very lousy... that's what they say... I can't say that myself coz i havent tried it yet...

    what about you bro?

I guess no one can argue na once OC'ed na ang PD payter na kaayo ang performance pero you must also consider na not everyone plans to OC or wanna fork out additional dough for a 3rd party HSF or a mobo and RAM nga maayo mo OC kay its a known fact na once mag OC na ka it shortens the lifespan of your CPU (and the rest of the components involved in the OC process) plus it costs a lot more. While this might rock the enthusiasts boat, one must keep in mind that these people share a very small percentage of the PC market. Thats why i just cant find myself recommending this to people who may not exactly know what they're getting into.

I have nothing against the PDs (805s in particular kay mejo mahal naman ang 820), i think well thought of gyud ni siya nga mix of performance by Intel and thats why number one gihapon sila sa marketing side of things (so far) but just to keep perspectives straight i just wanna give an example of how this isn't necessarily for everyone.

If you're an internet cafe owner ang pinaka dako ug percentage sa halin nimo gikan either sa internet usage or games di ba?! And mas dako pud ug % ang users nga either mag games ra gyud or mag net ra gyud. But for arguments sake lets say what if naay mag multitasking. Well, unless ang imong gi multitask kay video editing, 3D rendering, plus nagtanaw kag movie and nag browse pud ka sa net nya nag games pa gyud...diha siguro maka kita gyud kag difference. Pero i dont think this is a common occurrence sa cafe?! Most of the people go there with a single purpose of usage in mind. Single CPUs dont have problems handling net browsers and they definitely handle better in games (since wa paman kaayo games nga nag support ug muliple threads). Plus if most (or all) PCs in your cafe are operating the whole day maybe OC'ing them may not be a good idea. This CPU running in stock consumes a lot more electricity compared to AMDs, how much more when OC'ed. Siguro gamay ra difference if usa lang ka unit but since daghan man ang units sa cafe ma multiply pud ang difference sa electricity cost nimo diba?! And i'm sure thats a good issue for wise cafe owners 'cause you'd wanna cut cost whereever possible.

So unless you're an enthusiast who has money to spare and knows how to get around the technical difficulties of extreme OC'ing or wanna start out to be one by experimenting or if you're more into video editing or 3D rendering then this CPU may not be for you.
