sa multimedia benches, lower is better na bai. well, wala kaayo ko good explanation but i know this for a fact; ang edge lang sa i7 over the core 2 processors is memory bandwidth and memory latency because the memory controller is already integrated to the processor but clock for clock versus core 2s, there are some benchies that basically same ra ug result between core 2 and core i7 basta dili kaayo mag require ug intensive memory bandwidth and the benchmark is solely focused on the processor alone which could be the reason why the i5 is really close to the i7 kay and wala niya, triple channel raman.

.....di lang cguro kaayo ko ma surprise as of now that core 2 and i7 almost same score on some benchies and IMO, it's really not the i7's fault but I think it's the program that does not fully utilizing the i7 architecture yet ...will just give it a time and programmers will soon take advantage when they re design the software and then will see i7 starts to shine, hopefully soon. I remember few years back when IBM cell came out and game developers didn't know what t do with the 8 cores but now we can see on newly released games are taking advantage of it already

the i5 is a the mainstream counterpart sa i7. the i7 will become the high-end, i5 will become mainstream and the core 2s will eventually become the entry levels and will be known as i3(s) if i'm not mistaken. they do not have the same socket, i7 is LGA1366 (land grid array) while i5 is LGA1156. the i5 has smaller pin count because it loses QPI and uses DMA to connect the processor to the rest of the components.

The furture "Pentium Dual Cores" or maybe even the furture "Dual Core Celeron."

i5 is definitely the way to go... it will be cheaper than their enthusiast procs which are the i7... don't when they'll be available locally though... if you are not overclocking bro, better get a processor which has high stock frequencies... and don't forget not to depend on overclocking results... look for stock frequency tests...

the Core i7 was never intended for mainstream use in the first place. if you look at the architecture, memory bandwidth, thread-handling and even multi-processor support through QPI, it clearly looks optimized for servers and as such it is. grabeh lang kaayo siya kasikat nga it found its way to the consumers but for the average user, the i7 is overkill and overpriced.

a lot of people are shouting out why intel is releasing a stripped down version of i7 and my statement above is the answer.

sakto jud ka sir polds.. maru lang gud ang intel, kay ila gipa sikat ang i7 not knowing, it just the same running speed sa core 2.. i think ila na gi gamit ang i7 para maka bawi sila katong nag economy depressed sila.. kay dako2x gud sila na alkansi ato nga time..
