The vaccine works best when your still young. The published age group is from about 9 (if I'm not mistaken) to 26 years old...
But OBs are saying that if you're in your late twenties, it should still be effective.

naa man lain nga vaccine for those 25+ until 55 i think ...coz my mom she's like 52 and she still qualified for the cervical cancer vaccine
i dont know if your talking about Gardasil but as far as what the vaccine manufacturer says (Merck & Co.) it is most effective if administered to young girls or young adults before they become sexually active.
I am 22 years old and i have a boyfriend overseas, actually hes in early 50's. When he got here last July, i make love to him and he is the first man i made love too. My OB wanted me to have a vaccine against cervical cancer. How sure it is effective? Is it a lifetime? She want me for the reason that i have a boyfriend overseas. But i read from there that it is most effective if administered to young girls or young adults before they become sexually active, can it still be more effective even if i am sexually active already?
i had my gardasil shot for 4500.....it protects you from 4 strains of HPV.. hpv stain 6 and 11 causes more than 90% of genital warts while hpv strain 16 and 18 causes more than 90% of cervical cancer....
so in case you are already exposed to HPV like had genital warts, the most likely strain that caused that is either 6 or 11 since the 2 are the most common...these strains do not result to cervical cancer, unless your body is so weak that it fails to fight off the infection and the warts continue to progress.
so if you already had genital warts, the vaccine instead of protecting you from four strains it can still protect you from 3 strains, most of all it is still capable of protecting you from the cancer causing strain.
yearly pap smears are highly recommended especially when you started having *** at an early age,
however, if you haven't had *** and is over 21 you are already qualified to have your first pap smear.
there is a cheaper vaccine...the cervarix...half the price of gardasil, but it only protects you from the 2 cancer causing strains, excluding the genital warts causing strains.
there's a related thread about the same topic: the title is on HPV VACCINES and PAP SMEAR if you have time you can check it out...it is still under the fitness and health category.
