never been with Solaris.. I'm only using OpenSolaris to get familiarize with it. Hopefully I can finish the part II exam for SCSA next month.
one thing I've notice here in SG...most of the big players in the banking/financial industry are using Solaris

I second to that, Credit-Suisse in SG is still using Solaris 8 mostly (f*!!) for core trading applications in Investment Banking, I was having headaches before trying to link with some older libraries with third party API's. Solaris 10 is ok though, I have 2 machines on UAT, I like the Solaris LWP and threading much better than Linux. And Solaris mutex performance outperformed Windows NT by a mile (with the exception of using CriticalSection though, pero depende na pud on how you wrote the application).
