    Religion is poisonous?..hmmm..let me see

According to results compiled by David B. Larson and his team at the National
Institute for Healthcare Research, a comparison among Americans in relation to
church attendance yielded very interesting results. Risk of arteriosclerotic heart
disease for men who attended church frequently was just 60 percent of that for men
who were infrequent church attenders. Among women, suicide was twice as high among
infrequent as among frequent church attenders; smokers who ranked religion as very
important in their lives were over seven times less likely to have normal
diastolic pressure readings than were those who did not.

Secular psychologists generally explain such phenomena as having a psychological
cause. In this sense, faith raises a person s morale and contributes to his well being.
There may be some truth in this explanation, but if we look more closely we
see something much more dramatic. Belief in God is much stronger than any other
influence on the morale. In comprehensive research on the relationship between
religious belief and physical health, Dr. Herbert Benson of the Harvard Medical
School came up with some interesting results. Although he did not have any
religious faith, Benson arrived at the result that faith in God and worship had a
much more positive effect on human health than could be observed in anything else.
Benson concludes that he has found that faith quiets the mind like no other form
    of belief.

(Herbert Benson, Mark Stark, Timeless Healing, Simon & Schuste, New York,
    1996, p. 203)

Why is there such a special relation between faith and human spirit and body? The
result arrived at by Benson, who is a secular researcher, was, as he put it, that
the human mind and body are wired for God.

(Herbert Benson, Mark Stark, Timeless Healing, Simon & Schuste, New York,
    1996, p. 193)

    Is this toxicity?

Maybe..but you see, not all people are capable to be what Nietzsche wants human to be- an Übermensch. This is an idealistic dream which will fail because of human frailty. The 'Will to Power' against the seemingly meaningless existence of humanity- without a god.

    Life's too short for despair..

Yes, not enough reason for you but still not irrational for those who choose to believe.

i believe this isn't about the technicalities of the compatibility of both worlds AT ALL. but rather, it's an argument as to HOW humans can accept the idea of one without compromising the other and vice versa. when we talk about technicalities, religion and science just won't come together---IT IS LITERALLY AND RELATIVELY IMPOSSIBLE.

believing on something without proof falls under the notion of faith, but that doesn't necessarily mean Science is out of the picture. some Scientist can study the theory of evolution but may not disregard the idea of Creationism. afterall, we don't have concrete answers to everything.

BOTTOMLINE: the inquiry process is such a powerful tool that when ignored, one would be an easy prey for deception and destruction.

GOD IS THE ESSENCE OF EVOLUTION!

Whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding (evolving) as it should!

C.S. Lewis' compelling thoughts teach us to use the most of our mental faculty (being reasonable and logical) to make science and religion meaningful in their own field thus:

"The distinction thus made between scientific and non-scientific thoughts will not easily bear the weight we are attempting to put on it. . . . The physical sciences, then, depend on the validity of logic just as much as metaphysics [philosophy] or mathematics. If popular thought feels ‘science’ to be different from all other kinds of knowledge because science is experimentally verifiable, popular thought is mistaken. . . . We should therefore abandon the distinction between scientific and non-scientific thought. The proper distinction is between logical and non-logical thought."

a case of compatibility of science and religion...

    Laminin
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    Jump to: navigation, search

Laminins are major proteins in the basal lamina also called the basement membrane, which is a protein network foundation for most cells and organs. The laminins are an important and biologically active part of the basal lamina, influencing cell differentiation, migration, adhesion as well as phenotype and survival [1].

Laminins are large trimeric proteins that contain an α-chain, a β-chain and a γ-chain, found in five, three and three genetic variants, respectively. The laminin molecules are named according to their chain composition. Thus, laminin-511 contains α5, β1 and γ1 chains [2]. Fourteen other chain combinations have been identified in vivo. The trimeric proteins form a cross, giving a structure that can bind to other cell membrane and extracellular matrix molecules [3]. The three shorter arms are particularly good at binding to other laminin molecules, which allows them to form sheets. The long arm is capable of binding to cells, which helps anchor organized tissue cells to the membrane.

as a result of this ostensibly coincidental shape, Christian pastor and evangelist Louie Giglio has previously cited laminin in reference to Colossians 1:17, which claims that in Jesus of Nazareth "all things consist," according to the King James Version, or alternatively "all things hold together" in another translation. Giglio does this in his "How Great Is Our God" series, which was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia for DVD publication.

The laminins are a family of glycoproteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding in almost every tissue of an organism. They are secreted and incorporated into cell-associated extracellular matrices. Laminin is vital for the maintenance and survival of tissues. Defective laminins can cause muscles to form improperly, leading to a form of muscular dystrophy, lethal skin blistering disease (junctional epidermolysis bullosa) and defects of the kidney filter (nephrotic syndrome) [4].

But how about the symbol of the Sumerian Tree of Life compared to the schematic of Laminin molecule:

Sorry, OT na cguro ni dah..share lang ko.
