if you have a weak heart, don't bother watching this film, seriously. try watching the trailer from the official site and see if you can stand watching the film:

i've seen it yesterday and it was soooo shocking! i found it more horrifying than the
texas chainsaw massacre whose shock factor is not even half of
hostel. at first there were nothing but *** scenes but it all turned bloody until the end.Â*
what intrigued me was when i saw the trailer. it said that the movie was based on true events. i think that's where eli roth got the idea for it. it left me thinking if such horror exists. it's so sick. come to think of it, some rich people pay to torture strangers. i found some links from the official website and indeed the movie was based on true accounts regarding human trafficking and *** tourism/ *** slavery. there were also true stories regarding the death of some backpackers in different countries.
BUT there wasn't any true story that there were humans sold to wealthy businessmen for them to be tortured in isolated places, such as bratislava. there's nothing of that sort in bratislava according to slovakian viewers and reviewers.
it's all from the imagination of director eli roth and with the twisted genius of quentin tarantino. they've based the movie on true events and made some twists on it to make it more thrilling and terrifying.
barbara nedeljakova (the girl who played 'natalya') was very efficient in her role. she made me hate her character in the movie and it actually felt good she had to die in such way. for those who have seen it, you know what i mean. i found her more beautiful than the girl who played 'svetlana' (forgot her name). jay hernandez is steaming hot!
overall, this movie is really gruesome, twisted, evil and bloody. i experienced having to clinch on my seat while watching it at the theater but nevertheless i didn't feel the need to cover my eyes with my fingers. i was saying "oh my god..." and "sh*t..." during the gory scenes. it's one of those movies you don't want to give a second watch. not because it sucks, but because it's effectively gory, gruesome and scary. i'll give this a 6/10.Â*

i was surprised he was there too, playing a sinister-looking japanese businessman. when he said his lines "be careful, you could spend all your money in there..." i got the whole point.

i thought about that too. the movie only portrayed these rich businessmen as "sickos" and it never went further to at least explain why they have such twisted fantasies.
