The white-clawed mangrove crab may not appear on the net since there are a lot of crab species and families that are considered mangrove crabs. Considering they are mangrove-dwelling, they are likely to thrive in brackish water and should be kept in a tank with added salt. The range is 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of salt per gallon. You can use rock salt ( not iodized ) or use commercially available aquarium sea salt from piper's or riverfront. They'll eat anything edible from fishfood to dead fish and most mangrove crabs are even eats dried leaves.

If you plan to include fish on thier tanks, you have to anticipate the possbility of the fish being eaten, so it is best to keep feeder fishes rather than an expensive one. You may also put desicated coconuts on top of a rock that will not be reached by moisture to prevent it from getting spoiled fast, you can use half of a bivalved shell for the desicated coconut. You have to remember that these type of crabs loves to climb, so make sure that your tank designed to avoid you crabs from escaping.

Lighting is not required, but will surely add an impact to your viewing pleasure. Do not mix fidler crabs ( Uca uca ) with Mangrove crabs, since Fidlers are likely to get killed.
