Teilhard views evolution as a process that leads to increasing complexity. From the cell to the thinking animal, a process of psychical concentration leads to greater consciousness. The emergence of Homo Sapiens marks the beginning of a new age, as the power acquired by consciousness to turn in upon itself raises humankind to a new sphere.Borrowing Julian Huxley’s expression, Teilhard describes humankind as evolution becoming conscious of itself.
In Teilhart's conception of the evolution of the species, a collective identity begins to develop as trade and the transmission of ideas increases. Knowledge accumulates and is transmitted in increasing levels of depth and complexity. This leads to a further augmentation of consciousness and the emergence of a thinking layer that envelopes the earth.Teilhard calls the new layer the “noosphere” (from the Greek “nous,” meaning mind). The noosphere is the collective consciousness of humanity, the networks of thought and emotion in which all are immersed.

    >> As I have understood sir, Teilhard's perception of evolution as a process that eventually becomes more complex. As we socialize and interact with others through our exchange of ideas, (like this forum) our knowledge or intellectual abilities also evolves making us more complex than before. As our very own selves begin to be more complex than ever, we gain consciousness of the world surrounding us.

Knowledge accumulates and is transmitted in increasing levels of depth and complexity. This leads to a further augmentation of consciousness and the emergence of a thinking layer that envelopes the earth.
The development of science and technology causes an expansion of the human sphere of influence, allowing a person to be simultaneously present in every corner of the world. Teilhart argues that humanity has thus become cosmopolitan, stretching a single organized membrane over the Earth. Teilhard describes the process by which this happens as a “gigantic psychobiological operation, a sort of mega-synthesis, the “super-arrangement” to which all the thinking elements of the earth find themselves today individually and collectively subject.

Reaction: sir, as what I have understood, we are evolving. since we are homo sapiens, we are capable of learning . since before, we are already conscious that we are learning. And as we evolve, our knowledge grows bigger and we become more conscious of the world we live in. I also think that as we evolve, our thoughts become more complex and more reasonable, making us "hungry" for more knowledge...... As humans, we do not only stop at what we learn, we seek for more details and make ourselves become critical thinkers... hehe...

The author supplied a set of ideas which can lift us beyond the place and time of our individual lives. By thinking big about the whole race, we can face our personal task with greater clarity and force. It is a cliche for people to say when gazing up at the cosmos, 'You realise how insignificant you are'. This is a sentiment Teilhard would not have shared. In his philosophy, every soul has a vital role to play in the evolution of the world, and aware of the humility of Teilhard himself, we know that this does not have to mean having a big ego. Rather, it requires a person's utmost expression of their personality and abilities.

Therefore sir, like what ladyarcher said that we dont stop learning, because as we experience new things we learn to develop our ability to seek for more information not just what we have but we are in search for more things which could give us more knowledge and idea. Like for example since birth we are capable already for learning new things and we don't stop searching for this new ideas and as we grow old we gain more information as we acquire these information. Learning is a continuos process which invlove all of our senses, being open to new ideas...which could lead us to discovering new things and can help us in the future.. mao na akong sabot sir..
