Next question for 10 points. Why is Evolutionary Psychology important in the study of human behavior?

Evolutionary Psychology has one major point of telling us that people adapt to its enviroment for survival..like for example the learning how to speak in cebuano..babies adapt its enviroment and they observe the people around him/her...until he/she grows up she could speak cebuano just like other people around him/her because of adaptation. The child can't speak spanish because the child didn't hear that kind of language...thats how the child can communicate and survive in his/her enviroment to be able to interact.

Sigmund Freud was an Austrian neurologist and the founder of the psychoanalytic school of psychology. The theories distinctive of this school generally include the following hypotheses:

• Human development is best understood in terms of changing objects of sexual desire.

• The psychic apparatus habitually represses wishes, usually of a sexual or aggressive nature, whereby they become preserved in one or more unconscious systems of ideas.

• Unconscious conflicts over repressed wishes have a tendency to manifest themselves in dreams, parapraxes ("Freudian slips"), and symptoms.

• Unconscious conflicts are the source of neuroses.

He is commonly referred to as "the father of psychoanalysis" and his work pioneered many of the themes that are currently taken for granted as fundamental components of contemporary psychological research.

How are we influenced by human nature?

In viewing human similarities and differences, 2 perspectives dominate current thinking: an evolutionary thinking, emphasizing human kinship, and a cutural perspective, emphasizing human diversity. Nearly everyone agrees that we need both: Our genes design an adaptive human brain - a hard drive that receives the culture's software.

i agree also. we need both perspective. our genes are the one's allowing us to internalize the culture that surrounds us. culture on the other hand are inculcated on us since we were kids. so these cultural beliefs are within us. though some of it may change due to other cultural influences that we may encounter, yet we still have to process and analyze if we are going to accept these changes or not. so for me this two are interacting with each other. one has its purpose that would also be relevant to the other.

I agree that these two perspectives interact for example sa gender sir; we biologically influenced that we define ourselves as males or females and by culture we will know what are the different roles of males and females in their society (bali learned ni cya)...
