if she started creating nice and meaningful songs and quit covering songs which seems to be whats happening in the dying music industry of the philippines.

So is that how destressingly how low American can gets when it comes to real talents.Originally Posted by klavel

Consider this:

of course she can, with the kind of talent she has.. she can absolutely make it big in the US..
Granted that pseudo-artists in the US get their record deal via association (Ashlee Simpson) and through their connections (Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan) but do you really think a foreigner who doesn't write her own songs can cut it here in the U.S.? I doubt it...
We do have Filipino entertainers here... Lani Misalucha (sp) has her own Vegas show, Martin Nievera also often performs in Vegas... and of course, we have Lea Salonga who has a Tony Award, a broadway hit, even sang for movie soundtracks... but still, dili gyud nimo ma sulti nga big deal ni sila sa States .... unsa na kaha ni si Regine nga layo ra kaayo ni siya komprarar nimo ni Lea.
Why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?
To compare Regine to Lea, I think, is absurd. Consider that Lea became popular not actually as a singer but as a thespian.unsa na kaha ni si Regine nga layo ra kaayo ni siya komprarar nimo ni Lea.
Lea's achievements maybe a reckon to consider. But Regine's laurels, too, is not something to ignore about that easily. Remember that she made a hit in Asia, having had thousands of records sold in Hongkong, Thailand, Malaysia, and Taiwan. Now, that's something. No one, in Philippine history, a singer made such tremendous success in her album.
And to the question if she can make it big? I guess so. I've been trailing her story, fans, and reviews in the web for the better part of two months alreadty. And she's gaining solid fans not just in Asia, but in UK and US as well. There's even a Englishman who made a website for her; another a Malaysian, and a Hongkong fan (whose website for Regine is in Mandarin).
I hope, you Filipinos as well, won't lose that hope that easily. Regine's is country's gem, waiting to be discovered.
here's a review to her album that just turned platinum. The writer is an American.

Yes, she definetely can. Given her talent and beauty, she can shake every American's head back to earth, and tell them what talent should and must be. Hehe.
really, I have hopes.
To compare LEA and REGINE isn't absurd since LEA started out as a singer... and she is a recording artist.Â* Â*Regine also have some movie stuff doesn't she??
Onlinester... are you well versed with the US music scene to make such an opinion? Or are your opinions based on that single review.
How many times has Regine toured in the U.S..... yet she still isn't making it.Â* She's gaining solid fans?? YES, within the FILIPINO COMMUNITY.Â* If she's got potential, don't you think her A.R. people have already tried promoting her stuff to their international partners?Â* Â*Her people have contacts you know.... I bet they've already tried.
You really can't make comparisons unless you have an idea on how the music scene here really is.Â* I've seen so many talent in Broadway, the local clubs, and even the city subways yet these guys ain't making it.Â* Hell... even that American Idol Filipino girl (Jasmine Trias) who had nationwide media coverage didn't even create a buzz... except in Hawaii.
I'm not looking down on Regine's accomplishments.. hey, she's doing really good and she's been at it for a long time. It's just that every country has their own "songbird" but like I said, not everyone can make it internationally.... even the really good ones.
By the way... Regine's voice turns NASAL when she goes high...
Why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?
NO!!.. dont like her voice.. hagting ra kaau paminawn.. sakit sa dunggan..
Kung ma type-pan siya ni Tommy Mottola....na-a siyay chance.
