all these bands except Rites of Spring featured Ian McKaye on lead vocals. Idol nako ni si McKaye cause he was a good influence to kids. He's one of those people who started the "straight edge" philosophy "whose adherents make a lifetime commitment to refrain from drinking alcohol, using tobacco products, and taking recreational drugs" and refrain from promiscuous ***. It's like the Jonas Brothers of the 80s in terms of philosophy. The only difference is the Jonas Brothers are christians who wanna live up their lives in reverence to God...

most straight edge bands of today no longer adhere to the philosophy but only to the sound...
