Cable internet is very dependent on the area and how much power they could provide to that area, unlike your typical DSL na patas ra tanan (unless that cable company is using pure fiber.. which SkyCable isn't). There are areas na ok ang signal, and there are some na bati sad gyud. And even when you have ample power sa inyong end, it would still flactuate from time to time.. so kinahanglan na sila mag cge of reset sa ilang UBR's everytime this happens... hassle kaayo ng ilang cable internet.
I don't know why people blame cable technology for their slow speeds. In most parts of the world, cable technology outpaces DSL. This is not about cable or DSL, this is all about your crappy local networks.
They're not talking about cable in general, but specific to SkyCable only. And unlike "most parts of the world" who already are using wideband cable service, SkyCable does not. Supposedly, distance sensitivity shouldn't be an issue for cable internet (unlike DSL) but for Sky, it is... their RF carrier power flactuates too much.
Cable internet is very dependent on the area and how much power they could provide to that area, unlike your typical DSL na patas ra tanan (unless that cable company is using pure fiber.. which SkyCable isn't)Sounds to me at least two people are talking about cable in general.because cable internet is a shared connection
And those are facts, nothing wrong with stating facts.
1 - It's a fact that non-wideband cable internet is area sensitive.
2 - It's a fact that cable is a shared medium.
"Cable internet is very dependent on the area and how much power they could provide to that area, unlike your typical DSL na patas ra tanan (unless that cable company is using pure fiber.. which SkyCable isn't)"
And because of the highlighted part, that statement became specific to SkyCable.
Sure they are facts, but like I have said before, facts taken out of context and blaming the technology for sub-par performance when it really is the fault of the company's deployment and internal network is not fact.
Yes it is fact that cable internet is shared ... but that fact is not why he is getting slow connections which is what he implies with his statement and which is what you imply with your statements. I have a 20mbit cable connection ... and I ALWAYS get that bandwidth nevermind the fact that it's shared. It is the Philippine ISP's implementation of cable that gives cable a bad name while most of the world, cable is far and away the best way to get high speed reliable connections to your home especially in areas with DOCSIS 3.0.I paid for 2MBPS, but got just 300-500kbps, and if more user have been on the net at the same time (because cable internet is a shared connection)
