Default 2nd Moonrise docu fest now accepting entries

CENTER for Environmental Awareness and Education (CEAE) and the Ford Conservation and Environmental Grants are now accepting entries to the second Moonrise Documentary Film Festival set Aug. 18 to 20.

The festival hopes to showcase documentaries on environmental and socio-cultural issues, according to Jukka Holopainen, CEAE president.

“Aside from professional filmmakers we are also inviting first-time directors, teachers and students to submit entries,” said Holopainen. “The docus can tackle any subject—from garbage to historical sites. We are looking for entries that are both educational and entertaining.”

Winning films will have the chance to be shown in different festivals here and abroad.

Last year’s Moonrise gathered over 1,600 teachers, students, religious, government and NGO officials at the Gateway Mall.

Deadline for early submission is May 31 and, for late submission, June 30. Visit www.moonrisefilmfest.com, call 721-7360 or e-mail email@ceae.org.

Default FRAME OF MIND INT'L FILM FESTIVAL

    FRAME OF MIND
The first international short film competition & film festival dedicated to erase the stigma surrounding mental health issues

Filmmakers from different cinematic traditions have portrayed and interpreted insanity in many different ways, sometimes helping to further our understanding of mental distress, and at other times reinforcing our prejudices and sacrificing integrity for the sake of offering entertainment.
Frame of Mind is a rare opportunity to view the most sensitive films made in the world that have attempted to erase the stigma surrounding mental health issues. It will showcase the best feature and short films from all over the world in a non-competitive section.

In the competitive section we seek to counter negative, inaccurate and cliched images of people with mental illness. We encourage you to create clean, accurate, realistic and optimistic short films portraying those living with mental illness.
    • Here is your chance at making a short film that best reflects the struggle to erase the STIGMA surrounding issues related to mental illness (and not mental retardation).
    • Alternatively the films can also portray the HOPE for those with mental illness and/or their caregivers.

The film festival is a part of the International Conference on Schizophrenia (IConS) scheduled from October 13-15, 2006 in Chennai (Madras) India. It is organized by Schizophrenia Research Foundation (SCARF), India痴 premier Non Government Organization, committed to the cause of schizophrenia. SCARF is collaborating with the World Psychiatric Association on the global anti-stigma campaign and is also a Collaborating Centre for the World Health Organization.

Default Re: Indie Film making anyone?

Just wondering if you could help me. I hoping to make a independent film by next month but I need a certain location... a large spacious room/studio with a high ceiling and wood floor preferred. Someplace like a gym, dance studio or a badminton/sqaush court. Someplace that could pass off a dojo or a fighting hall/arena.

The location should be ideally located in Cebu, hopefully in the City proper or in Mactan. The film outfit Sinebuano will be using it only during the weekends for a period of 6 to 7 weeks. I'm also hoping to acquire the use of such a place for free, compensating the owner/s with credit as producers of the film and provided with a complimentary copy of the finished picture.

If you have information or recommend such a place that meets the requirements stated above, I would be extremely grateful. If you could please pass on this request to relatives, friends.. you know networking... it would be greatly appreciated.

If you have interest in knowing more details about the film project please feel free to PM me.
