"Hitler usually concluded this historical speculation by remarking: 'You see, it's been our misfortune to have the wrong religion. Why didn't we have the religion of the Japanese, who regard sacrifice for the Fatherland as the highest good? The Mohammedan religion too would have been much more compatible to us than Christianity. Why did it have to be Christianity with its meekness and flabbiness?'"

Pope John Paul II or Karol Wojtyla was a Polish soldier fighting against the Nazis during the invasion. and Pope Benedict XVI or Joseph RATzinger was a young Nazi officer during WWII. maybe he did his share of atrocities back during the war, or did nothing. or, he helped the Jews and Christians. his past is vague enough.

    Hail Fuhrer! Hail Hitler! Jawohl!
Wasn't Pope Benedict a member of Hitler's Youth? I think that's different from being a military officer. I'm not sure how old he was at that time, or if he had a choice not to be part of the organization.
