my gf conducted a research about prostitution for an advocacy campaign a year ago. most of the reasons why women indulge in prostitution are poverty and having no opportunity.

in poverty all things comes out- no education, no proper guidance, no career path to head on and small opportunity in life. basically their goal is to survive each day.

maybe we can help them through our little hand by supporting some charity. by education and some good goals in life we can pull them out from being disturbed.

    - I'm quite disturbed by the fact that some foreigners want to visit Cebu because they want the services of our women? What a festering moral problem! Ani nalang dyod ba ang larawan sa atoa mga Filipina sa mata sa mga langyaw? Ohhh my..sometimes i cant blame some foreigners you know.

    - I do know some Filipina women who make a living by getting naked in front of a webcam. It's like a grave social crisis which might lead to a spiral case of criminality and health problems. What i mean is, mga sakit na gikan sa gawas, or di gani magpatay if mag-abot kay naay uyab na foreigner dayon lahi sad ang uyab ngari na pinoy......criminality lagi ug health problems.

    - The massive and far reaching corruption has something to do with this problem, leading our young people for prostitution. Di ba diay ta pwede mahimog tourist destination way apil ang biga biga system?

    - Adto dayon boracay kay naay bikini open pirmi...pastilan!!!

Wow kanindot ba dapugon anang huna-hunaa no hehehehe..

Intawon man sad nimo oi..dinidib-dib mo lahat e hehehe...this is supposed to be a discussion and helping in finding more proper solutions.. ang imo man kay sukit-sukiton nimo tanang anggulo, k fine hehehe kalma lang...ang opinion its either correct or wrong naa ra na sa naminaw or gabasa... kung murag kog correct nimo...imo na na...mao may imo pagtuo. I'm not forcing anybody to believe in it.

Although it may seem very apparent that there are lots of foreigners in the Philippines looking for "a good time", it is not much different than other countries around the world.

Geographically, Philippines is quite small. If you take into consideration China, India, or US, the numbers don't even come close.

    It happens everywhere, unfortunately.

    just my 2 cents opinion...

There's some truth to this results.

It is indeed sad that Philippines was branded as such. And if the statistics is true, then the question is: why did this happen and why is it still hapening?

I am not a bonafide Cebuana but I won't take it as regional problem but as a national problem because this is happening nationwide. Just like the fact that most pinoys and pinays are working abroad as a domestic helper, construction worker or other jobs even as professionals.

So, the real problem is economic.
Most people especially those in the remote places could barely afford education for some reasons. Either that there's no school or that the schools are very far. Aside from the fact that they are struggling to even have a decent meal, they could not afford to buy school supplies.
With no education, how can you have a decent job? You can't even qualify for anything but being a maid with a salary that can't even support one's self. And they don't want to be a maid, huh!
Having parents with no education will perpetuate the ongoing crisis. For want of a better life, some parents would push their daughters to marry someone for convenience, out of a need to survive and have better lives. Forget about morals, forget about righteousness. They can't live on that. That won't put food on their tables.

What does the government do about this? not much or nothing!

Social services is not adequate enough to reach the people in the mountains and remote areas of the country. I wish that they could conduct more family planning campaigns and population education so these people will understand the importance of having a planned family.

The government should provide employment opportunities in the provinces. Conduct trainings to equip them with skills that will qualify them for a job.

If this economic problem will be addressed by the government, I think this kind of problem will be lessened if not totally eliminated. But this is not the case.

Our country is poor because of the unequal distribution of wealth.

Hundreds of millions of people's money is being squandered if not pocketed by the corrupt government officials. Imagine, one official would pocket hundreds of millions of pesos in one deal. If you will think about it, our population is only 90 million more or less. If you will consider giving P1M each for every family, there is still much left to the corrupt official. You don't even have to give 1M individually but for every family which is sure to be less than 90million. Then everybody is happy.

But the sad truth is, this will be hard to solve. This will take years and a good government to even minimize it.

    ^ yeah its true sir.

i really agree on this one "parents would push their daughters to marry someone for convenience." which they deserve a life to live with options of human affections.

yes, governance is one of the problem but we cant kick each one of them and replace a common-good minded government just like that. it will take time...

maybe we can set aside governance issues and lets just help those abused females with our little time and money while they can still put a smile in there lives.

due to our pitiful economic status with the rising number of the poor and hungry, many women from poor families try to hope for a better future for them and their families by marrying a foreigner and it has become a stigma. FILIPINO WOMEN NOW are often referred to as MAIL ORDER BRIDE

..I do know some Filipina women who make a living by getting naked in front of a webcam...
yes, i know that there are alternative solutions to this "crisis" that we all are undergoing riht now..

but, honestly, i think these filipinas that do these seem to find ease in these "jobs" than real jobs..so kanya-kanya lang kayod..dba?

i do disagree on these types of money-making rackets..but they seem to lack the capacity to do otherwise..
