I'm no fan boy i just go for the best bang for my buck when choosing CPUs and a good reference would be its price-performance ratio.

i was just wondering what major animation studio would that be 10-X? since you've already researched it might as well save me the trouble and just tell me. 1500 render nodes? if amd system is what they're buying then we might as well take their lead.

so far nothing beats AMD athlon 4200+ X2 2+gig memory with windows XP Media Center in terms of performance/capacity and price (apil jud nang price).

Any processor will do be it athlon 64 or pentuim 4 basta ang memory kay naka dual channel mode gyud. single channel memory is the bottle neck of most pc's today because it could not cope up even with the 533mhz front side bus. many clock cycles will be wasted because the memory could not supply much data to to processor, leaving the processor doing nothing in some clock pulses. thats why to maximize your processor's potential, choose a board that supports dual channel memory like the nforce4 chipset or an intel 915. any motherboard brand will do as long as they use the same chipset

@franklin: how can I change the memory from single channel to dual? my board does support dual channel. does it have to do with the ram? my ram is pc400... sori for my ignorance... thanks!

ZetroXen, You have to have a pair of identical ram units say 2-1gb geil rams, and put it in the first 2 ram slots. check out you mobo manual, most mobos will automatically turn into dual mode when you do this, but there might be some mobos wherein you have to change some bios settings. Venice cores will only support dual channel for 2 pieces of ram and not 4. Intels can have 4 identical rams and still be in dual mode.

@joel, very interesting info. venice core won't support 4 pieces of identical ram in dual channel mode? just wondering about this coz my mobo's manual indicates that if all four slots are filled, its in dual channel mode and doen't mention or specify any proc. core that won't support it.

@joel oporto: Thands bro.. So you mean to say, they must be of identical brands? I have kingston and ncp brands (both 512 mb) on my 2 slots. Yes I placed it accordingly to the slot that should have enabled the dual channel mode. I tried to test each slot but still, single channel...
