You're right about the "personal discipline" side of the forum. But there are problems in this forum that can be remedied by subcategorizing them like 1) redundancies of threads which happen the whole time a new member comes in this section. 2) spam threads or threads that promote certain religions (we've seen them happening all the time). i don't see anything wrong with such threads per se (coz i perfectly understand their sincerity) only if they'd be categorized properly that they will be most appreciated. 3) categorization makes the discussion more enlightened and prevent bigoted discussions. Experience tells us that in almost all topics anything can be opposed to for the love of their bible or their religion. I don't hate these people...i think they just don't know what they are doing. Makapawa lang sa gana...ug makapadiscourage sa uban...discussions become heated and personal until wa nay klaro ang discussion...hangtod idelete nalang sa mga mods...imagine the waste of a few good men only to be ruined by a few others who are willing to waste a thread for their bible. Categorization reduces the incidence of bigotry in the forum and encourage like-minded people to talk harmoniously on the subjects they like.
There will be uninhabited sections (ditto for the current organization of the S&O thread) but they will not be uninhabited for long when we open the discussion not just to the more common topics like Catholicism, INC, Atheism etc... If you notice, the forum has been overwhelmed mostly by religious discussions which turn off others "who do not belong" but are willing to open a thread other than what has been discussed.
The suggestion is not meant to be a panacea for this board. But I believe than an informed discussion can be accomplished when we put people in places where they are good at. After all I think an informed discussion is what most of us desire in this forum.
