you dont need to memorize the code, just learn the algorithms and sharpen your logic skill.

i suggest you learn C first. that would give you some solid foundation on algorithm formulation and implementation, program control flow, modularity, memory manipulation, file handling, etc. just to name a few.

C and C++ are already considered old languages nowadays and very hard to understand. I suggest you start with VB, Visual Basic.NET, C#, ASP.NET, PHP and Python respectively. I assure you, dili jud ka mag mahay ani.

C and C++ are not old, they maybe in terms of age. But they are still very much in use. They are called foundation languages, so in order to understand programming completely, you must start at the very basic level - which is to me would be C.

To the TS, if you really wan't to study programming, try to understand what it is you want to do. The language of choice must be choosen for a specific problem, like if you choose to develop low level device drivers or firmware, note that C#, .NET or other interpreted languages is not applicable for these kinds of development.

Bitaw, I totally agree with Kolz. Depende ra na kun asa ang imo plano na padulngan. Kun student pa ka, learn as much as you can, as many as you can. For fresh grads, importante kaayo ang basics kay naa jud dinha ang questions na kuhaon sa interview.

If you are not from the computer fields and would just like to learn the art of programming then much preferable siguro that you learn the high level ones like web or gaming perhaps. The point to this, is mas sayon kat-onon and maybe dili kaayo taas ang learning curve assuming you have the right tools.

But for students in the computer fields, mas maayo jud na solid ang inyo C/C++ foundation. If apilan pa ninyo ug assembly, then mas ok pod. If you have solid understanding of the concepts of these languages then dili mo ma problema maski asa pa mo na computer industry mabutang after mo graduate. Usually sa industry man gud, dili na ka mag learn sa concepts. Usually, how to use the tools available to get the job done imong focus. Well, if dili pa ka solid sa basic concepts, then kun nag trabaho na ka, you just try to learn again as well as learning how to use the tools.

Just an added note, you can actually develop drivers and firmware in .net, that is if you are developing for a windows mobile platform using embedded .net tools. Again, it depends na sa tools na imo gamiton. Dili lang ko sure sa C#, but I think windows has a way for these developers to be able to do so in the embedded arena.

True C and C# are the good languages to start with. Gradually you have to know the other languages as well. Much to mention for different languages out there!!!!

During in the long run with your study and work......... your Boss' and your Managers don't really care what and how you do it. The want OUTPUT!!!
