I suggest that you go to a diagnostic LABORATORY first and have your SGPT and SGOT taken so that you have a baseline reference for your liver problem. The doctor of this homeopathic clinic just transferred to another location. He just separated from the clinic near capitol. These are the details: BIO-INTEGRATIVE HEALTHLINK CENTER owned
by Dr. Romy Paredes, M.D.,CMT ( Diplomate International Board of Clinical Metal Toxicology.... limot man ko, basta daghan kaayo to iya title )
Address : Unit #7 Pueblo Aznar Uno Bldg. M.J. Cuenco Avenue cor
General Maxilom, Cebu City Tel no. 412-9269 (call the clinic first kun magpa schedule kay usahay out of town siya) Maayo ni siya, he will explain everything gyud.

Yap, I agree. Be sure you have other test be conducted, Hepa antigen test. Because not all having problems in SGPT and SGOT are Hepa B/C carriers. Mine is too high to both but Im non reactive after the Hepa antigen test.

this is the complete Liver panel here in the philippines

HbsAg or Hepatitis B surface Antigen Test
HCV Hepatitis C Viral Antigen Test
HbeAg or Hepatitis B envelope Antigen

    As well as:
Anti-Hbs Antibody for Hep B surface Ag
Anti-Hbc Antibody for Heb B Core Ag
Anti-hbe Antibody for hep B envelope Ag
Anti-HCV Antibody for Hep C Ag

are all serologic tests....so the panel above plus the blood chemistries(enzymes and other blood chem test)are basically everything available locally to assess and diagnose whatever liver disease you have.....

    heheehheh!!!!

Yup its a separate panel but there is also a complete liver panelwhich includes both hepatitis and hepatic panels plus liver function test to determine the exact cause of liver dysfunction!

OT: what liver fxn test other than those in the hepatic panel is in the 'complete' liver panel? unsa na liver dysfunction ang ma determine?

there's alot but their not routinely done...they usually requested by doctor's for Visa screening purposes,
like sa Velez Hosp. ang Doctor para Austrailian Visa mu request of liver function test
ex are Foreign Substance excretion...to test your liver's Excretory Function, or Protein Flocculation...to test for the Synthetic function as most proteins are synthesized in the Liver
they are also usually requested by doctors who didnt grauduate from Med. Tech as their Pre-Med...

Test of Liver function can also be done by simply Measuring the SGPT:SGOT Ratio, or the Albumin:Globulin Ratio

Liver Dysfunction is a general term which means your liver isnt working properly, thats why we need a liver panel to determine the exact cause for appropriate treatment

    like
hepatitis of Viral Orgin (aka Jaundice)
cirrhosis due to chronic alcohol abuse
or liver toxicity by some drugs....

however if you overtly show signs or are predisposed to Viral Hepatitis...diretso nalang SGPT to know the extent of Liver Damge, and Hepatitis Panel para to know which virus ni cause sa hepa (A, B, C, or B with D, or E)

    hehehhehe

na intriga lang jud ko ha...

    1. wat foreign substances excreted are usually assayed?

    2. CHON flocculation is merely a test for albumin(?)... watabout protime detm for the synthetis fxn?

    3. shouldnt the MDs know this even f they are not from MT before?

    4. dba SGPT is released from hepatic parenchymal damage and SGOT from the biliary passages?... so its more of the structural alteration than the physiologic (read: functional) aspect.

    5. available ang testing sa Hep E in cebu?

clarify lang nako ha... jaundice is the yellow discoloration of the skin due to deposition of bilirubin when it is in high levels... aside from viral hep, cirrhosis and chemical toxicity may cause jaundice. infections in the liver like schistomiasis and obstructions like gallstones & ascariasis may also result in jaundice. if predisposed to viral hep, it is foremost to do hepatitis testing. the SGPT may be normal or elevated but less than the clinically acceptable limits in advanced liver damage so it does not reflect the extent of liver damage...

    peace
